1st > Monahan
3rd > Kovacevic
4th + McDonough > nothing

Canucks pass on that trade easily

Tarasenko gets a better return

I'd say 1st for Monahan is an overpayment as well. He's worth a 2nd at the absolute max. The ony part that's possibly the right value is Kovacevic for a 3rd.

Aidan McDonough is not available, and Canucks should not trade him to MTL.
The second trade looks awkward, in my opinion.

You’d think trading Aidan is a right idea?

I don't give a **** what they do with McDonagh. He is an AHLer and will probably never be anything more. I don't like this particularly deal but that has nothing to do with McDonagh.

Saying he is "not available" is absolutely laughable.

Easy slick. Its not so far fetched.Hes a pretty good prospect. No reason to trade him part way through his learning curve in the AHL.Lets not give up on him before we even know what we have.Just MY opinion.
why would we trade him?

We know what we have and it is an AHL player or fringe NHLer at best.

7 points in 24 games in the AHL. he will be 25 this year. has been clearly outplayed by karlsson, Aman, Bains, Podkolzon, Raty, Nielsen, and Sasson. right now it is being generous to say he is the 8th best u25 forward on the abbotsford canucks. time to face facts, im not even including Klimovich or glover or wouters, all of whom you can argue are better prospects at this point. he's not going to be an NHLer

Because he's really good! Have you seen his linemates? His faceoff stats? He's a 29 year old top6 center. The Habs have no reason to deal him unless they get what they want with little available in his class at his AAV at the TDL!

Hughes came out yesterday in his presser and said they are looking for a 1st plus a prospect otherwise they are open to resigning him. They have no pressure points to deal him and there is legit interest among a dozen teams.

Good AHL/European pro most likely. The fact that an overage 7th rounder has become an everyday AHL player is already a massive win. At his age it is very unlikely he becomes much more. Best case scenario is probably a PDG type of career.
