Detroit passes right now. Behrens just isn't a need in Detroit as we have a plethora of young left hand defensemen. Also is we trade Lyon right now it basically says we are waving the flag on the season.

Nelson would be a great fit, I think they could get him without giving up Byram though. I made an Nelson trade AGM earlier this season which was well received by both Isles fans that commented - Nelson 50% retained for Ritchie + Beaucage + 2024 1st

Fair enough about the season. Thinking Husso will be back soon and his contract means he'll play. Would a forward prospect be better?

Why would Detroit by far Trade our best Goalie in Alex Lyon? For a position of strength which is out left defenseman. Pass we're currently in 3rd place in the Atlantic. And Lyon is pretty much the reason why.

At this point, knowing (1) the Avs will have to get rid of Byram, Girard or Manson next summer to fit in Landy, (2) Malinski looks like a legit 2nd or 3rd pair D, and (3) Ritchie looking like the long-term 2C (I know it's just OHL, but he's finally healthy and DOMINATING) -- 11g 24a 35pts +21 in only 23 games -- I'll be shocked if he doesn't play with the Eagles and get some callups next year), I'd rather trade one of the D now.

No. Lyon is the only NHL caliber goalie on the Wings, and he's a good one at that. A late 3rd and a pretty meh prospect ain't gonna be enough regardless.

Fair points. But I think if you are substituting Byram in for Ritchie then COL should at least be getting the 50% retention on Nelson and probably another pick or prospect coming back as well

I would absolutely do this as an Isles fan but I doubt Lou trades Nelson unless we tank til the deadline. I don’t know if Lou physically is capable of selling cause he’s never done it before. I also don’t know how realistic it is to trade Byram who’s a key part of their cup run

I bet he goes back to junior one more year and he should; the Eagles are a black hole of development for Avs prospects. Literally no Avs draft pick has made the jump from the Eagles to the Avs since Rants and that was a different era.
