Chabot is a fine offensive dman, but he's TERRIBLE defensively. Karlsson is actually better defensively if that says anything. The Pens would be get caved in on the ice having that many guys like that.

Dominik Kubalik = 4th round pick. Injury prone Josh Norris won't get anywhere near that kind of return. Dude can hardly stay healthy and he isn't worth close to $8,000,000 per long term.

In every advanced metric Chabot is better than Graves.

In 5v5 situations he is similar to Petterson.

In all situations he would be the Pens best dman in terms of shot prevention and goal prevention.

He is signed with similar amount of term left to Graves. 3.5MM more than Graves. And is 2 years younger.

I have to respectfully disagree on all levels. Graves, while not playing well right now, is likely to bounce back. I do respect metrics and use them, but Graves is known to have a hard time adjusting to new teams.

You have to look at this from a wider scope. Karlsson, Letang and Chabot? We'd get eaten a live and pushed all around the ice.

Canes probably aren’t interested in Tarasenko after the stunt he pulled in the offseason. They certainly aren’t going to be spending a 1st on a rental, especially without retention. Frankly, Tarasenko would have to boot Noesen out of the lineup, and I just don’t see him being able to do that. Very unlikely the Canes make a move for a Winger at the deadline.

I mean, you're entitled to your opinion. I'm not saying it's wrong but I have never been a subscriber to bigger, tougher guys win. If you play fast and score a bunch, you win. Chabot has a 58% corsi. It's hard to score when you only have the puck 42% of the time. I loved Brooks Orpik but when he wasn't hitting guys, he was a dud on the ice. Granted, he hit guys a lot.
