You aren’t getting a 2nd round pick for a #6/7 dman who’d be a healthy scratch for the Canucks the rest of this season. I’d pay a 4th for Kovacevic but nothing more. Depth dmen don’t have that much value

Sean Monahan is a 3C on a cup contender, he's not getting no 1st round pick.

Jake Allen at full value isn't getting no 3rd round pick. Allen = Reimer and Reimer at 50% is far more valuable then Allen.

Sorry since when do #6/7 dmen get a 2nd round pick?

I really do wonder how you think that trade is possible for Edmonton we’re are we gonna get the 3.8M from to pay Allen?

Kovacevic is underrated, I would trade Barron over him if he gets a better return. With Reinbacher and Mailloux coming and now Konyushkov I think Barron is an expendable trade chip.

Monahan might be okay as a depth add in case of injuries, but he's in no way worth anywhere near a 1st to Winnipeg.

He's not a player you actively search for, he's a fall back when plan A, B and C fall through.

Finally, someone said it! Everyone is scared to be flamed for anything controversial said here. I said the same. Trade him while you can with value.

Guhle has showed he can take the right side. The handiness is overrated, its a Mike Babcok principle that everyone just accepts as the norm.
And, on the right, you have Reinbacher coming and Mailloux is developing nicely as a PPG D in the AHL with a Xhekaj-Mailloux pairing.

He most likely blocks the trade with his 7 team trade list anyways. Not once have I thought Allen was going to EDM. Hes already won a cup and chose to resign in MTL

Kovacevic might actually net a 2nd. Kulak did last year. A late 2nd isn’t worth as much as these people think it is. I wouldn’t say it’s likely though.

You said the same about Chiarot and we got to flame you for it just one year ago. Monahan might not net us a 1st, but he definitely could.

I posted it, Honda Civic for a 2nd

Too many scared to go out on a limb. Just do it. You get a ton of hate like here but... everyone... to agree with you, is boring anyways. Most, usually get it wrong as NHL moves are always nuanced.

Zito was desperate for D therefore grossly overpaid for Chiarot.

And someone will be desperate for a centre and grossly overpay for one. Happens every year.

TDL prices balloon the cost meanwhile the offseason you cant even give away a top 6 player. It's been this way in the cap world and its groundhog day at every TDL. You pay more for assets short term when you know that you can use them for a playoff push whereas that isnt a certainty in the offfseason where teams are lukewarm to spend on anything.

Another reason for this is when you’re making the playoffs you plan for that 1st round pick to be in the 20’s.and that 2nd round pick to be late as well. Every team is planning to make a deep run, whether they do or not. A late first round pick is a coin toss. Like 30% chance they even become a regular nhler in your bottom 6. And the late 2nd rounder is probably less than a 10% chance.

And most ignore the difference between a pick in the top 10 against the value after 22 picks where you have about a 7% chance of the pick becoming a star whereas a top10 has about a 30-50%

Not all 1st round picks are made the same.
