Add your 2024 first, and Anaheim still says No. See above.

Zegras is nice but I don’t know he is a fit in COL particularly at 2c.

I was just thinking on that swap. I like it. Avs final get an affordable and possible replacement for Kadz (we have only been looking for that for 2yrs now) although he is fairly one dimensional , his defensive flaws can be covered by Nuke, Lehky, or even Landy (if he can make it back). Ducks get their future #1. If it was a perfect world I'd move G, but BB is going to need a raise at the same time as Rants. If Landy does come back next year, someone has got to go. G is a perfect 2nd pair D and cost controlled.

Ducks have 2 potential #1s on the left side between Mintyukov and Zellweger. If Byram was right-handed this would totally be interesting, but at LD it just doesn’t fill a need at all

Ducks would have to add to this to make it work, Byram has done a lot more in his short time than Zegras, who was drafter later than Byram. Ducks don't need LHD so this is all silly.

If Byram was right handed we'd be talking about Mctavish+.

If he was remotely healthy of a player, and was right shot, you could ask that. Until he shows that he can successfully play 75% of a season, he's a distressed asset.

He's got two healthy seasons under his belt. While the media scrum makes it look like he's a distressed asset hyping up all of the stories, I don't believe he is yet. He's played 20 games this season and after he came back the first time he was putting up points like his usual self. His slow start was predictable with a new coach and missing camp.

I think you have to consider him distressed if you're saying that about Byram. If you can genuinely say Zegras isnt at a low for value, you're not being honest. Both are not at their proper value but, neither team has to sell their asset.

I will agree that Giggy’s phrasing of ‘distressed’ is probably a bit exaggerated. But there’s a very material difference between the 111 games that Bryan has played over the last 3 seasons and Zegras’ 176. Anyone trying to offer a low for either is unlikely to succeed for good reason. But ANA in particular (with no underlying cap constraints, a very real need for what Z brings (scoring) at a position of need (LW) has zero need to move him at all. The only reason to do so is if they have another they can’t refuse

COL also doesn’t immediately need to do anything, but they are a team at the cap with like 8 players paid under $1M/yr on expiring contracts, Byram due for a new contract after next season, and a good LD core as it is. It seems reasonable that they have a few more reasons to consider moving a LD (and I’d presume Byram will net a lot more than Girard) than ANA does Z. Nonetheless, we all agreed it’s a terrible fit since ANA has no need for more LD anyways

Zegras > Concussed Byram. No way Pat Verbeek makes that trade.
