Rust is the best player in that trade and imo worth what you're asking but Chicago is still a few years away from when they would make a trade like this one. This would also be a case of selling low on Raddysh which I would hate to see happen. I also think Chicago would want Joseph replaced if they were interested in Rust. They're loaded at LD.

If the Hawks were in “win now” mode perhaps they would be interested in Rust but being a bottom feeder would make it highly unlikely they go for this deal especially considering he has 4 x $5.125m per remaining on his contract.

Hawks decline instantly. A top 35 pick in the draft for a LD they don't need and a contract they don't want. Easy pass. And Rust isn't waiving for Chicago anyway.

what is the purpose of moving smith? is it to clear 5 million of cap space for 24-25? or just move him to try to recoup some futures to use in the offseason?

if you are looking to clear space, im sure we have some older prospects that could be depth roster adds for the Pens for next season. If its futures, what are you looking for? Gunler and ?

Simply put, CHI isn't buying. Rust is not a benefit to CHI, and it is highly unlikely he waives his full NMC for CHI.

Penguins would be asking Vancouver for a first round pick and prospects not Kuzmenko.
That’s what Dubas will be asking in my opinion.
