You could sweeten the deal with a 2024 4th and 2025 5th instead of the current picks listed. Jones has potential to be a solid third line defenseman with possibilities to be better. Monahan is a UFA. take the value

I dont know enough about the habs to give a real appropriate answer but some combination of jones and picks could definitely work. even a 2025 1st instead

I like the first trade…seems close.

Monahan probably gets 2nd+Jones type of value

I think this is a great, realistic mock that could turn the Rangers season around

I like it, as it's about all you can do without giving up a 1st. Plus you'd have Chychrun for another year. Miller, though young, is very erratic and a TO machine.

the gap from Miller to Chychrun is more than a 2nd, Ottawa certainly isn't adding Tarasenko at 50% retained for that return. Moreover, Miller as a piece for Ottawa doesn't make sense to begin with. The whole rationale behind moving Chychrun (which I still wouldn't do) would be to address the imbalance on the blueline between LD and RD.

The discussion for a Monahan trade starts with a 1st. Even if the Habs were interested in a prospect of Jones' caliber and some scraps, they still wouldn't take Jones because he'd be so far down our depth chart he'd never see the ice

so is the point that it’s Tarasenko for a 2nd and Chychrun for Miller? because I’d rather have Chychrun over Miller, by a decent margin, and Tarasenko at 50% retained can get the Sens a 1st, or at least more than a 2nd. this deal would have to start with NY adding a 1st alongside everything else

Sure, a center on pace for 58 pts, FO and PP specialist on a cheap expiring contract... sure send your LHD prospect to the team who as arguably the MOST LHD prospects. It's gonna cost a 1st OR a 2nd and a good prospect to move him.
