Avs do have some untouchables imo

Created by: Anus_McLeod
Team: 2023-24 Colorado Avalanche
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 29, 2024
Published: Jan. 30, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Those are as follows:

-Ritchie,
-Gulyayev,
-Kovalenko

Also, roster guys who currently play a big role or who just signed won't be going anywhere. Basically that is anyone not named Johansen, Jones, or Olofsson. That leaves something like this to chase whoever they want to go after.

I'm on the record as saying that someone beats what the Avs offer for Lindholm. Take that for whatever it's worth.

I’d argue Guly is on the table, but he’s so far out from the NHL at this point that he probably doesn’t have much trade value.

Still comparatively young goalie who needs some work. Bit scrambly and gets off square to the shooter at times, like he loses his awareness of where he is exactly in relation to the goal, and needs work on rebound control (like most young goalies). Avs fans are, imo, a bit too overly down on him.

Yeah he plays goalie. The Avs picked him up on waivers. He's nothing to get excited about.

But like I have said in my other posts with Kahkonen, I think the price could be pretty low if there is no retention. SJ would get more if they kept salary, but with only one slot something like this could make sense. Obviously I could also be way off on my assessment.

I'm thinking Sharks use that retention slot on Duclair.

At 1.5 mil he should get plenty of interest.

At 3 mil hardly any.

With how Lindholm is playing I don't even know if I would add Behrens on top of a 1st. He's on a 54 point pace with poor underlying numbers while being outscored by Sharangovich, Kadri, and Coleman, all of which have less TOI and all but Kadri have less PP TOI than Lindholm

I'd say that's about right with the untouchables, Gulyayev as a maybe, though he doesn't have the value per se in a trade as he's likely on a Kovalenko type of path, and also exactly what I'd think would be a fair offer for KK (I have the same on an unpublished team on here). I think we have to accept that at least one of the D corps might be in play if it nets us a longer term C though. If the Flames want any more than that (or get offered more) for Lindholm they can keep him (or trade him to whoever offers more) as far as I'm concerned. On recent form that's an overpay.

I can't imagine your right about him not having much trade value. He just went in the first round and has exceeded expectations so far. Certainly there is the whole Russian factor thing that puts at least some damper on the value, bur he's worth at least what he was when he was picked.

All that said, I think he's the most likely to be misplaced in the untouchable list. He might be had if the return is right. Probably not for a rental though imo.

This is the right take. Before shelling that out for a guy underperforming I would look for cheaper options.

That’s fair, people much smarter than me seem to be very high on him. I mostly just think that he’s like… 4 years out from coming over. Most GMs don’t have 4 years of job security in front of them. A high pedigree guy with such a long runway may not be as compelling as someone like Ritchie who will likely see NHL time within the next 2 years.

IOW, you don't want to trade anything that'd be worth Calgary trading Lindholm for. It'll take Ritchie and the Avs 2024 1st to start talks. Your other two "untouchable" (that's a hilarious take) prospects aren't even very interesting to us.

He has two more years in the KHL so a bit shorter than that but it's always possible he signs another deal there; the AHL path with the Avs can't be appealing.

Nobody is offering you a top-4 scorer in the OHL plus a 1st for a Lindy rental.

Good luck with getting those talks started. All you'd get is a dead tone if you rang me looking for that for Lindholm.

I'm not sure what IOW means, but I'm sure it's highly complimentary of me, so thanks!

As for my funny take, it's more about knowing the team and how the FO operates than saying they're the best prospects in the league. Notice that I never made such a claim.

This is true. Unfortunately that is the reality for most of a fanbase who just wants to see their team win and win now lol. The organization is kinda the same. That's why guy like Annunen/Myers/Olausson etc are still in the AHL

It feels like your takes are always very far off from the general Calgary fanbase’s takes.

The general Calgary fanbase is like most of the posters here they just go with whatever garbage the eastern and big city biased hockey media tells them to believe. I'm not the one who's going to be surprised by what Lindholm fetches, it'll be people like you who think if they keep insisting he's not worth much they can steal him.
