Except for the extension part and possibly Marner's NMC it makes sense.

And the fact that the Canes kinda got worse. Pesce's a pretty big loss for the team, you're gonna need a replacement like Carrier, Tanev or Fabbro. Don't want DeAngelo in the lineup for playoffs, bad enough when it's the regular season.

Canes aren’t moving Jarvis. They aren’t going to make a trade like this during the regular season anyway. Now, if it were in the off season, a package of Necas and a 1st for Marner (extensions agreed upon prior to trade for both Necas and Marner), I could see that happening. Pesce has no desire to play for any Canadian team, and he sure as hell won’t waive for one.

Other than the fact Jarvis is going to be much better value on his next contract that Marner, Marner's incredibly overrated, and the Canes do not have the RD depth to move Pesce, maybe.
