Between Andersen and Kochetkov, Carolina doesn't need another goalie. Also, I'd imagine the Bruins would want at least a 2nd and a prospect for Ullmark

I mean I wouldn’t say no to Ullmark but we have a crap ton of expiring contracts this summer

I would love him... if we have the cap space

We won’t, lol. Jarvis and Necas alone will take up half of it

Issue is, do we get rid of Freddie or PK?

guentzel certainly gets more imo. I think you’ll have to pay a 3rd to whoever has hanifin’s rights to make it an 8 year deal instead of 7.

Ullmark probably gets a 2nd+3rd or so

Depends if Freddie plays hockey again

Also choosing between a 25 YO and a 35 YO with a medical history the length of the Bible seems like an easy call.

Probably Freddie but I guess that the only reason we'd bring Ullmark in is if PK needs some more development time

Freddie's also a CLEARLY better goalie. He's genuinely starting caliber, where PK is still streaky at best

That's a fair way to look at it, but to me, that means there's no need to go into the goalie market

Yes, but we don’t know if he’s even coming back, yet alone how he’ll play after being out for months

He was cleared for an on-ice return like 3 days ago. Waddell said when he was diagnosed it would take him about a month to get back to speed, so it'll be end of Feburary when he's going to be in the conversation to come back.

I’m going to be skeptical of our medical team for a bit after the decided Pacioretty was fine 4 months after snapping his Achilles

That's not their fault, plus, our medical team actually cleared him before Christmas. He's fine

Trading Ullmark for a 3rd and signing Guentzel to 7 year deal is the opposite of ideal offseason.

This is an ideal offseason for the rest of the Atlantic

Dumping Ullmark is not going to happen. If it didn’t happen last year when we were in cap hell, what makes you think it is going to happen this year?

Even under the circumstance that it did, it certainly is not going to be to an Eastern Conference team. Eastern Conference teams will have to pay market because the goalie situation in free agency is not good and every team that’s gone cheap appears to be having issues with it outside of maybe the Kings (and they just fired their coach)

If it comes down to this, they just sign Hanifin and DeBrusk …. And allocate Ullmark’s money to Frederic’s extension.
