Nice, I like it and it's pretty fair. Maybe we add a pick in that 2nd trade say Minnesota 4th. But really good job.

I suspect Ostlund isn't the kind of player Montreal would target at that price.

I know this isn't gonna be liked by Sabres fans but Habs aren't adding the 1st here, it would be 1 for 1. As you said Barron is a top 4 RHD typically those aren't cheap to acquire (usually bringing back a 1st + prospect) and Ostlund is still a prospect worth a 1st round pick. We got 13th OVA for Romanov, Barron is better and playes the more desirable side, there fore as I said previously, it would be 1 for 1 not Barron + 1st

I would do that, don't know if many Sabres fans would.

kudos on the idea and Montreal did do this type of trades dach/newhook but they were different... they were young NHL players and yours is still just a prospect so i think your asking price is a bit high

I think Habs would want a player with a bit more size. Don't get me wrong, he might be worth it, but the Habs need to become a heavier team amongst their skill players.

Even at 50% retained, Clifton is still more expensive then the options the bruins have for 3RHD right now, and is playing worse. Not a fit.

Ostlund isn't as undersized Anymore, he doesn't way 163 Anymore. Can say he's closer to 175-180 know. He should be a interesting player to watch when he comes over next year. Been working with Havelid a former Coach on getting up to NHL and Physical rigors.

At 175 lbs he would be one of the 20 lightest forwards in the nhl who have played 20 games this year.

He will be one of the smallest nhlers

No he's not, he's 5'11" and by the time he comes here for camp he could be 185-190 and room to grow.

Vaxjo lists him as 5'10 still and he was a flat 5'10 at the combine.

You not being realistic. It is hoghly unusual at that short stature to gain 25-30 pounds especially when the draft combine would be a bulk up point. If you weighed him tpday I wpuld comfortably take the under at 170 lbs.

Ostlund would only be moved for a more established young defenseman anyways, so don’t worry

Why do the Sabres NEED Barron, if we are able to get Borgen back ?

Seems like overkill & trading just to trade at this point
    Clifton is fine at RD3

Thank you for setting my mind straight.
Barron has 6 goals and does play 4th most minutes for MTL.
Upon review this is a terrible trade for Buffalo.
He plays sheltered minutes getting the second highest offensive zone starts of all MTL Dmen.
Barron PK's for only 48 sec per game ranking him 6th and only plays 18:47 min per game.
His %GA/60 2.91 is 7th among MTL and would the second worse among all Sabre dmen.
He does not hit nor block shots and ranks 5th and 7th per 60 minutes respectively among all MTL dmen, but would rank 6th an 8th in Buffalo.
In case you do not know, Buffalo dmen are not known for their physical play.
Barron's stats make them appear to be beasts.
Buffalo would never make this trade.

We on agree nearly all Sabre matters.
The items on which we agree that differ nearly from all other Sabre ACGM's are:
Jokiharju is the Sabres best RHD why trade him.
Greenway is not being traded this year unless a team were to send a top pairing young RHD.
For what ever reason Olofsson was *ucke* this year.
    Cliffton is playing well enough.

As to this trade, after reviewing Barron's stats you are correct in this matter as well.
This is a bad trade for Buffalo.
As I prepared this post the plan was to get 2 young RHD for our 3rd (or 4th) ranked center prospect and Krebs.
Borgan would be good catch, Barron is not.
As you said get Borgan keep Clifton.

    To be fair,
I don’t think Barron is a bad idea in a vacuum

It’s just that i don’t see a need for us to go after him AND Borgen
*if we could acquire Barron for a cheaper price then Ostlund, then it could make sense

Also, Barron just got sent down to the AHL
It makes more sense for us to go after the more established defenseman, which in this case is clearly Borgen

Too bad we didn’t make a deal to keep Borgen in the expansion draft & give up someone else…. Ugh

Also, it’s totally ok to disagree
Bound to happen from time to time

That's all well and good, I never said the Sabres would make the deal (besides the fact that this is a Sabres fans ACGM) all I said was that the value between the two players is similar making any deal a 1 for 1 and the Habs would not be adding anthing but either would the Sabres. This isn't my ACGM and I never said the Sabres should do it (personally I think the Sabres need a guy more like Kovacevic than Barron but the OP traded for Barron and as such my comment reflected that)

OK, well that's nice info. But I will tell you when he came to Rochester and Buffalo at the end of last year and Offseason. He measured 5' 11 and was 174lbs
