Habs will not gonna trade Reinbacher, Hutson or Guhle for a package for Zegras.

But, that's my offer for him :

- 2024 1st round pick (6th or 7th overall)
- Justin Barron or Jordan Harris
- 2024 2nd round pick (COL)
- 2024 5th round pick (MTL)

The trade is a good comparaison of the DeBrincat trade to Ottawa (1st + 2nd + 3rd)

Apparently MTL isn't going to use Reinbacher, Slafkovsky, or their 24 1st in a Zegras deal, so I'm wondering exactly how you're planning on acquiring him when Verbeek is only going to trade him for a blue chip piece, and those are all off limits?

I think some Montreal fans want Zegras and he fits the mold of what management has targeted in the past (2019 pick forward) and they've talked about wanting more offense and Zegras has been rumoured to be available. I don't think that means Montreal really wants Zegras specifically. They'd probably have reservations about paying that price for the same reason the Ducks had reservations paying Zegras on a long term contract.

That said, if Montreal ends up drafting a Silayev/Levshunov/Dickinson, then it may be a different conversation (same if the Ducks take one of them). Any Zegras deal would be more complicated because most teams would want salary going the other way too.

It will have to be a massive package to get Zegras. How they do it without giving up their top prospects I have no idea but Verbeek is an old school guy and will be looking to fill out his roster with players like that

I know I’ll get some slack for this but I believe there is a scenario where Montreal trades Reinbacher for Zegras if there is a RHD they are super high on still available at their pick.

A contingent of Montreal fans really want Zegras, I don't think the org is more interested than any other team.

Zegras was a 9th overall and his team is a motivated seller, which brings his value down. That's nowhere close to a top 5 pick.
