Konecny isn't worth any more than Mittelstadt. Let alone the swap of 1sts and us adding a top tier prospect?!

I don't think I see the Flyers adding a 1st to the Sabres trade, maybe a 2nd rounder

The players are fine. But Leafs decline that. I just don't know how much better a 3C and a 5D will make the Leafs better. They need to package their 1st with a couple of prospects to land a big fish with term. I don't know if a player like that is out there. But this team isn't a Laughton and Seeler away from contending for a Cup.

Flyers may want to sell, but buyers are dealing at those prices.
For instance Konecky is in effect a one year rental. Sabres aren't giving up that for him.
Like Laughton, but Robertson has played well so the Leafs keep him and his cheap cap and better production this season. So Seely isn't worth a first to the Leafs.

I think it’s highly questionable who is better ceci or walker but the fact it isnt clear cut difference is why I think oilers would rather do nothing than make this move.

Every deal highly favors the Flyers. Bad trades. Also, Konecny and Seeler aren't going anywhere. Risto and Atkinson are going to be hard to move. I don't think Carolina has the Cap to acquire Cam's nearly 3M contract for 2 more years (thanks for making me do math). Just poorly thought out and poorly executed trades. D-.

Buffalo's keeping their 24 first rounder unless they get some significant help on their blueline coming the other way. And any trade asking for Ostlund is immediately going to be counter-offered with Rosen.

The Sabres could use a guy like konecny, an immediate influx of grit, attitude, and talent would certainly be welcome. However, with his contract status being what it is, he's not returning anything close to the op. The Sabres would be giving up mittelstadt (a young, rfa, 70 point, 2nd line center), a recent 16oa pick coming off a fantastic wjc, and a top 10 pick- and they are getting back one year guaranteed of konecny, and a late first. If konecny had 3 or 4 years of control, there could be a discussion about value here, but for now, he's a rental. Rentals get late firsts and prospects that aren't rated as high as ostlund.

Interesting, I kinda lump savoie/rosen/ostlund in the "really good prospect" category, just below kulich. Rosen was apparently the best player on the ice in last years ahl playoffs, opponents were double teaming him to keep him off the score sheet. Ostlund obviously had a great wjc, but Rosen has put meaningful weight on, and has performed well in big games in the ahl. Sure ostlund is a center and rosen a wing, but I don't see a huge difference other than that.
