Hard to imagine Ottawa wants two late 1sts badly enough to take a guy who makes more, has more term, and is the worse of the two players.

New Jersey can have Brady Tkachuk for Jesper Bratt + John Marino + the Devils' 2025 1st.

I question if Tkachuk is better than a healthy Meier.

Meier is better defensively and a better goalscorer.

Tkachuk might be one of the most overrated players in hockey

The gap between them is a lot less than 2 1sts+Casey which could be used to acquire basically anyone you want in the league

But Jesper bratt is much better than Brady Tkachuk

So wouldn’t it be Tkachuk +Chychrun+Ottawa 25 1st for Bratt

If Calgary got Huberdeau + Weegar + a 2025 1st for his brother Matthew, then Ottawa will want something like that as well.

You really have no clue what Tkachuk brings to a team and it shows. I would not trade him for Meier or Bratt 1 for 1 . You’re looking at offensive production to justify who you’d take is hilarious. Brady is a lock for 35-40 goals every year too.

Brady is a unicorn and brings a skill set that is extremely rare in the NHL . Not to mention those type of players get severe overpays all the time. Playoff teams are more likely to go after Brady than Bratt any day of the week.

The only difference is that Brady hasn't asked to go play somewhere else.

as an aside, if Chiarelli ever gets another job i want garth snow back in the Isles' GM spot. for whatever reason Garth just loved fleecing that guy. Eberle for Strome, sending Griffin Reinhart out for picks that turned into Barzal and Beauvillier, Johnny Boychuk for a pair of 2nds...I can only imagine what Garth could get him to give up for a guy like Otto Koivula or Robin Salo.
