round it out

Created by: ArakinSkywalker
Team: 2023-24 Colorado Avalanche
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 14, 2024
Published: Feb. 14, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Henrqiue is producing still on a very low scoring Anaheim team so hopefully he could continue that here. Dowd and lindgren round out the bottom spots and hopefully provide the playoff depth.
I feel we were able to move 2 firsts this year with us drafting twice in last years first round and also in 2 years i think we will have to move on from one of girard or byram and can recoup some picks and prospects with that deal since i see us being cap strapped come the 25/26 season

You want us to take back Johansson but can’t even give us a 2024 1st?! Pass

i mean i'd assume anahiem buys him out next year, with nashville paying half it's like 1mil cap hit. this year is already a wash for you

Caps accept the return, but wouldn't be willing to retain salary. He has a year left on his deal.

Replace the 3rd with a 2nd and Caps probably do it.

2 1st, a 3rd, a 4th a 5th and RyJo is all in this season, COL isn’t doing that. Henrique (most likely) or Dowd not both. I personally wouldn’t do either, I’d roll the dice on some one like Roslovic or pony up and try and get Frost or Mittlestadt.

Of course they would who wouldn’t take a 1st 2nd and 4th for a back up goalie and 4C. COL should stay far far away from Dowd.

Sigh Dowd is not a 4th liner, he's an elite defensive bottom 6 center that shuts down the other teams top players. He's getting a 1st.

Lindgren is a starter making peanuts, he'll get a 2nd.

Curious why you say COL should stay far away from Dowd. I'm not saying it makes sense to add him and personally don't think someone like Dowd is what the Avs need this season, just wanted to know from a general standpoint.

Sounds like Ducks know retention is likely needed on Henrique, but hoping to get at least a second for him. Given the market, I'd be fine with COL giving up the 2024 1st for a retained Henrique. Take the L and see if you can move Ryjo for anything, even if it's FC, without spending an asset to do so.

The reported price of a 1st rd pick. It is decidedly bad business to pay a 1st rd pick for a 4th line guy. He has zero 30pt seasons and he isn’t going to be the 3C with Colton in place. Throw in Bednar plays the 4th line less than 10 minutes and you know that goes down in the playoffs. Throw in COL needs a guy to drive play, at least with guys like Monahan and Henrique they have a history of it.
I think it would be poor asset management, I mean he played 17 minutes last night and I didn’t notice him.

when we won the cup in 2022 we traded our 1st, 2 2nds, 3rd, jost, helleson, barron and timmins. no one even bats an eye after because we won. I'd say i have less going out right now and if we win the cup this year no one thinks twice about whats going out. Plus to get mittlestadt or frost you'd have to give up atleast what i've got going out so i don't really see your argument about the amount.
Roslovic and henrique is a pretty lateral move i'd say except you have a better idea of the player you're getting with henrique. plus dowd looked really good last night and is a big step up from our current 4C and with retention is a great deal for two years.

Got it. I agree it would be poor asset management. Just didn't know if you saw/knew something of him as a player that contradicted what seems to be a universal positive perception of the guy. Thanks.

i don't think you really watched the game if you didn't notice him. He was +1 with 17mins of ice time had an apple in a 6-3 game with 65% faceoffs, while throwing more hits than anyone on the avs roster. He was noticeable to say the least.

The cap hit on a buyout may be irrelevant to Anaheim, but your "plan" has a small market, bottom 5 in revenue team (with no playoff dates) spending nearly 3M in actual money for no gain to themselves directly. The only team benefiting from this supposed Anaheim buyout is Colorado.

Dowd is not worth a 1st rd. Avs can easily get a package deal using a 1st rd on 2nd line center and 4th line center.

Frost and poehling is worth a 1st.

The guy who claimed Mitts was being shopped walked it back. Kevyn Adams denies shopping him. Avs can't pay him. Add it all up and it isn't happening.

Frost is more of a maybe but I think Philly probably wants to keep him.

Tbf I only really noticed him when he wrapped his stick round Sammy's neck and then threw a tantrum. I'm with Xqb.....pass!

No high dangerous chances, no rebounds created, a secondary assist, as I watched the game I didn’t go wow Nic Dowd ever, and when they were close where was he? He wasn’t on the ice when the game was close and the Avs were scoring empty netters. But great you read the stat sheet, tell me was he more noticeable than a guy like Drouin who finished with no points? There isn’t a chance I would trade a 1st rd pick for that guy and only bad GM’s get caught up in over paying for guys because they just have to do something.
