I think the Sabres would be very tempted to take that. They could flip Markstrom to another team and retain if they didn't want to block UPL/Levi.

I think with Andersson and Markstrom it puts them in the playoffs next year

Sabres obviously do that. They'd give that up for Andersson alone

You’re delusional if you think Vancouver would even think of that.

Not even close to enough for Andersson.
Not helping Edmonton that much either.
All so bad

As a Sabres fan,
I don’t think we’d need/want Markstrom
He’s a bit expensive & 34 years old

We might be willing to do Mitts for Andersson, & throw in Clifton for them
But it’s pretty unlikely CGY trades Andersson (or Weegar),
since they’re trading Tanev & Hanifin

1- guy who did this is a VAN fan

2- that’s not the Pettersson you’re thinking of, it’s the defenseman 🤣🤣

Could you imagine? Conroy, probably: "we may be sellers, may be buyers, the UFAs will all be available, jk we're going to extend everyone, SIKE LITERALLY THE WHOLE TEAM IS GOING IMMEDIATELY!"

What's crazy is these aren't all that bad. Hanifin goes for more, EDM probably says no, Andersson isn't getting moved, etc. But Columbus probably takes that, VAN might as well, and nothing is embarrassingly far off for value IMO.

Canucks decline. Lafferty won't be moved, also highly doubt they'd move D-Petey in a deal for Tanev. Probably looking at 2025 2nd + low tier prospect max, anything more and they'd probably rather just wait to the offseason and sign him as a UFA.

That trade is awful for EDM. Neither Kylington (health issues) and Vladar (performance) are worth much while collectively nearly equalling Campbell's cap hit (meaning EDM doesn't even gain flexibility to go all-in) and yet you somehow have them giving up two 1sts, a 2nd, two of their best prospects, and a C prospect. Even under the assumption that they want to dump Campbell instead of wait to buy him out, he'd cost half that to dump.

Dude if Edmonton doesn’t offer at least 2 1sts and 2nd rounder just to start to take Campbell then the next sound Oilers front office hears will be 31 consecutive clicks from the other GM’s hanging up

So your walk away no go is Laffertty not EPD, LoL
Lafferty is a good bottom 6 winger/centre hybrid but that’s it and some salary needs to move to Calgary

Which is precisely why they'll wait and buy him out in the offseason. If the demand is unreasonable, they'll take the cap penalty.

It is the Pettersson I'm thinking of.
Yeah, dude's a keeper. Was solid for Sweden at the WJs, I wouldn't give him, Laff AND a 2nd for an aging 34 year old rental. I'd give a 2nd and a 5th max for Tanev half retained.

If the Canucks want Tanev they will wait until summer and get him for free. Tanev's house is in Van, and he has been extremely obviouls about his desire to finish his career there. So...........pass.

They want him for the playoffs not next year when he’s 35 and getting $3,500,000 for 3 years from the Leafs

My takeaway is neither of those guys will be moved in a deal for Tanev. Canucks aren't moving Pettersson, one of their better defensive prospects. As a contending team, they also aren't moving a great bottom 6 forward on an amazing contract who is a big contributor for them. Lafferty is on a steal of a deal, contending teams don't move those kinds of players, they provide tons of value with a cap hit well below the value they provide.
