The above is correct
Sabres don’t need a LD we need a right shot

But we aren’t trading Mitts,
and the Avs can’t fit him under their salary cap moving forward anyways

I get what you're saying about Mitts and am thinking you'd like a different type of d-man, and a right-handed one ta boot, but he has the talent-level that Buffalo should looking to receive in return were Mitts to be traded. The only thing concerning Byram is his injury history. Apparently, he's had concussion issues, but barring that, I can't see passing up a great-skating, offensive d-man with speed and skill (albeit a defenseman that needs to work on his defense) in a trade for Mitts.

Byram wouldn’t have a role in Buffalo. No team would be comfortable playing 5 lefties on defense. And his play has been bad these last couple years.

If he was that good and you wanted to move out power, Samuelsson, or ryan johnson to get the player that we do need, I guess, but I don't trust adams to pull off a two step trade. I know it's sacrilegious to mention those guys, but the build needs to make sense, we arent winning with puck moving lefties that arent good defensively, how would one more help? Plus, is it not a red flag that Colorado is suddenly good with moving Byram? Every other team wants to offer a late first and a right shot ahl defenseman, or something useless along those lines.

That won't get you Middelstadt, and that won't get you Tanev. But the Fleury trade might work. The wild would need to retain a small amount.
Edit: I have now realized that they are retaining some, I didn't see that at first

With the Mild close to a playoff spot, Fleury is no longer available

Byram has had concussion issues, and I brought that up. I also said he has "the talent-level" that Buffalo should be looking for if they trade Mitts.

Any sources for teams offering a crap package for Byram or is that assumption based upon what's written here or on other hockey sites?

No, no, just on here. I don't know if it's concussions, that Byram isn't living up to early expectations, or what. Strikes me as being unusual, everybody else wants to offer a late first and some stuff that was laying around.

"[Byram] endured three concussions to begin his NHL career; resulting in Byram missing the majority of his first two Avalanche seasons."

https://denvergazette.com/sports/colorado-avalanche/why-avalanche-s-bowen-byram-after-multiple-head-injuries-has-confidence-in-nhl-concussion-protocols/article_00277142-b2f1-11ed-b709-eb60c2ab0724.html

It's an older article, but he's had some concussion problems early in his career.

Edit: that's why I'd hesitate sending Mitts to the 'Lanche for him
