I feel like he's gonna have to give in at some point. Specially with hanifin and or Tanev. If he doesn't want to lose out

I think it was because they couldn't agree on the cost of retention, not actually retaining.

At first it sounded that way…but now it appears that Conroy may have the ability to retain (been conflicting reports there). It was the size of retention and cost of retaining that broke things down.

I believe Conroy did get Fitzy to agree to put Holtz on table…and that is what prompted Conroy to ask Markstrom to waive. But at some point they did not agree on the cost of retaining (have seen different figures…from “15%” to “$2-3m” so we don’t know exactly how much was requested).

Hard to get any more information out now as it sounds that Conroy had to put a lid on the leaks after Fitzy was not happy that details got into public.

Canucks wouldn't give up Willander alone for that package, let alone add a 1st and Hoglander on top.

Canucks don’t move Willander alone for that package

They don’t love Hoglander straight up for Tanev

I’m not sure they’d move their 2025 1st for Tanev

That deal favours Calgary heavily

You're right, but I'd jump all over that deal for Tanev. The 2025 pick will most likely be higher, Willander will be a top prospect for the Flames, and Hoglander can be flipped.

Vancouver isn't paying that much for a guy that doesn't want to play for Calgary, Willander for Tanev straight up is absurd let alone adding a first and Hoglander
