That's the legit dumbest reason I've seen in a long while. And I've seen some doozies of late.

Maybe you forgot hockey is a team sport?

Edmonton has two top 5 players in the world in McDavid and Draisaitl. They can't make it past the 2nd round.

Toronto has probably the best 4-player core in the league with Matthews, Marner, Nylander, and Tavares. They couldn't get past the 1st round for 5+ years, and STILL couldn't get past the 2nd round.

If Ottawa has any chance to win, whether in the regular season or the postseason, they'll still need a player of Brady's caliber PLUS they're current young core. Move either or both, you're only creating another 10+ year playoff drought. Probably longer.

If the Sens move Tkachuk, it’s either in a Pettersson trade or for a young building block piece to add with Stutzle and Sanderson
