You guys should trade Rielly right before going into the playoffs.

Matt Roy is the Kings' best defensive defenseman, and doubly critical to Los Angeles while his defense partner is week-to-week. Trading him would be tantamount to abandoning any hope of going far in the playoffs and maybe even reaching them in the first place. Moreover, Arthur Kaliyev is the third-most-valuable asset in that package. This is an easier No than the last bad Matt Roy idea.

EF said he might be available due to cap space. Hes leaving yall next year anyway. Might aswell get something for him.

You asked for Jenner. You already know the answer.

And judging by some other replies, the same is true of Roy.

And of course this is a wholly objective analysis not at all tainted by motivated reasoning.

is unavailable . Jenner or Roy would be nice adds but 🤷🏻 so would a lot of guys; don’t see either happening.

Kings are not trading Roy. They'll get a playoff run with him. If they lose him in UFA so be it, but they're going to make every effort to re-sign him.

Just because you don't want your team to trade a player or don't think they will doesn't mean they won't.

Alright, let's meet back here in 7 days. I'm not just spouting this. There are insiders with contacts in the Kings who also say he isn't being traded.

I'm not saying he will be traded, I'm just saying it's a little nuts to be so definitive with statements about things we really have no insight on lol

It's more an exhaustion of Leafs fans continuously treating the Kings/other teams as their farm teams. Under valued, over posted trades that consistently get told reasons why they're not reasonable, yet continue to post.

So while they are more than able to keep posting as much as they want, we're exhausted of posting the same reasons over and over. Hence:

No other fanbase on here consistently undervalues other teams players, insists that unavailable players/players those teams have no reason to move are in fact available, and overvalues their own prospects more than Leafs fans. Every fanbase does it, but no others do it as exhaustively and consistently as Toronto.

Well it's bound to happen for a team with the largest fanbase in hockey. But don't pretend the opposite doesn't happen constantly either where every trade involving the Leafs, non-Leaf fans undervalue every single asset in every single trade that isn't one of the top core players like they're the only ones with any value whatsoever.

I mean, that last sentence I fully agree with.

Arvidsson won't be brought back, Kopi's cap drops 4mil, and the cap is rising almost 5 mil. Thats 13mil in space right there. Add Lizotte not likely being brought back and thats even more space.

It'll be tight but let's not act like Kaliyev and Grundstrom are going to demand any large raise. If they do, they're replaceable with Reign players close to the NHL.

Byfield and Roy are the two biggest pieces of business, followed by a better goalie (who will likely be backed up by Rittich at a close to league minimum deal). Outside of that, the roster is mainly set. The crunch will be if Byfield goes 8mil+. However if he bridges, there should be nearly no cap issues to resign Roy and a goalie for a total 8 ish mil.

As a Toronto fan, I'd think you would be used to a team finding its way out of cap binds to sign their most important players.

I agree, it's more to do with the size of the fanbase than anything. Every fanbase has them, it's just that there's so many on here it's exhausting and overwhelming sometimes when that's the entirety of the proposed traded have the time. But it helps if people don't press when other fanbases say a player isn't available.
