Don't get it because of the concussion history and he's a left shot

LOVE this for Buffalo. Had a logjam at center and managed to move the odd man out for only... one of the best young defenseman in hockey. What a great move

Hope he can bounce back and stay healthy for you guys because this season has had some ups and downs for him. All the potential in the world if he does, though!

You mis-spelled "redundant" in your title.

I just don't get this move for Buff.

Except Buffalo has needed a right-handed d for a while and they added yet another left-handed d. He also wasn't very effective at playing right defense and that's why Colorado acquired Walker before trading him away.

I want to believe they'll find a way to sort it out.

Almost every NHL defenseman claims they can play both sides of the ice yet less than 10% of them do it effectively. Probably less than 5%. I don't know why this concept is novel to the any fans because this is one thing that's agreed upon between all the analytics nerds and the old school people.

So you’re happy with clearing a logjam at centre and create even more of a logjam on defence? Particularly with left handed shots? Not all of Dahlin, Byram, Power, Samuelsson, and Johnson can be top 4 guys on the same team. Byram doesn’t really fit in Buffalo. He won’t be the top pair lefty and he doesn’t play his off-side that well. He also won’t be the top PP unit guy and likely will have to compete with Power for the 2nd unit spot. So why bring him in? If you wanna clear the logjam at centre just move someone to the wing - you can never have too many centres and it’s much easier moving to the wing from centre than moving a winger to centre.

This deal just doesn’t make sense for Buffalo.

Dahlin just moves to the right full time. His numbers are better there anyways.

Samuelsson is the odd man, he should be on third pair anyways.
