If lines days look to be over for Columbus, I would be all over this deal. Its a great cap clearing deal for Columbus and gives Chicago with a winger for Bedard. May not would put great but Chicago is still rebuilding. Giving wingers while you have the cap space when rebuilding for a middle pick is smart.

If Columbus because a stickler for more then Chicago can look at a low end prospect to send back and add a condition hat pick is upgrade to a 2nd rounder if they surprise and make playoffs.

Stecher is an interesting add if Rinzel stays at Minnesota another year and they dont want to play Allan or EDM on their offside

No reason for Columbus to sell low on Laine for that, unless he specifically proves he's not a piece of the core going forward for some reason.

Hawks probably decline. Laine isn't worth that contract any longer. Can't stay healthy. And too inconsistent game to game when he is able to play.

Laine is not the type of player Davidson is building around. Sure he has talent in spades everyone can easily see that , but does he have the heart & conviction? It does not appear so lately.

If Laine is moved this offseason, the pick coming back will almost certainly be conditional. I could see it being a 3rd that upgrades to a 1st if he scores 30 or 35 goals.

laine loves columbus and has tight connections in the locker room. we're not gonna move him for just a third. we don't have a lack of cap space and will have no need to just dump laine before his deal is up - it conveniently ends the summer that fantilli, jiricek, mateychuk, and dumais all need deals. plenty of space in the mean time especially with peeke out unretained and provorov likely gone sooner than later. everything about the situation lends to us sticking with him or getting fair value for him.

I would not argue. That is why I said if. At the moment, Columbus and Laine look to want to continue to work together and if that remains then 100% yes the above trade would not work.
