I could see the canes being interested in this kind of deal for Necas. Provides some cap relief to sign other RFAs and UFAs we currently have, get a solid, young roster player in Peterka and likely a top 15 pick this year.

You swapped peterka along with a good trade chip for an older more expensive player. Jjp has been one of the best forwards this season.

Cates is a good move.

The Winnipeg trade is bad for the Sabres. Joker could be signed for less than pionk. Vilardi has always been an awful skater. Sabres had AJF for free. Giving up joker, krebs (good friends with bo which is important), and savoie (teammates with Benson and is having a good year) just doesn't make sense.

The deal has been done. Don't try and talk him out it.

Meh
For what we’d supposedly have to give up for him,
plus playing him at 3C…..
I’d definitely go in a different direction
If he was cheaper to get & we put him at 4C, then fine
But (imo) we’d be better off with more of a 2way guy who can produce offensively and play good defense at 3C,
and then get a guy like Cates (or Sturm, etc) to fill a defensive Center role at 4C

We don't need cap relief to sign our guys... Turbo and Skjei or Pesce is probably gone but that's about it

Unless JJP takes a massive step forward before the season is over, I doubt the Canes do that. The Canes don’t need to move Necas, and a futures package that doesn’t help now isn’t of much interest.

Skjei would be a huge loss he has been amazing this season carrying Pesce. I would rather keep Skjei and Guentzel and get some value out of Necas, than lose one of Skjei or Guetnzel and get nothing for them.

Well I shouldn't speak for everyone, but I can't see one good reason why they wouldn't.

Do the Jets really need another small forward, I don't see it myself.
