Easy decline from Seattle. Not enough of a return in this case.

I think you'd pry Zadorov away for that number, but I'm not sure you'd get that value out of him. He's played well but as a depth piece.

Also, a bit too rich for Markstrom. A 1st and a B+ prospect or a 2nd, an A prospect, either coming with a roster player with salary, seems likely to me.

won't lie, i dont watch too much of Zadorov. i like his size/game to add to NJD, and i think i remember he has decent enough footspeed and puck skills, but i absolutely could be wrong. And yea, I think price for Markstrom is a bit steep but i know ill have other people in here saying it's not nearly enough lol

If Ullmark is only going for a 1st at the absolute max, Markstrom isn’t fetching that kind of package

The second condition on upgrading the pick in the Markstrom trade kills that proposal. NJ needs more than just a goalie to make the conference finals... Starting with a lot more grit. They're too soft.

No I'd look in a totally different direction, other than G-
-Markey is probably a 2nd and a mid prospect who is blocked from making the team as a skater, add for retention. No way a 1st with all that other stuff either. Its a good move in that in my mind bc of the extra yr gives you a chance to let Daws/Schimd backup in year two after Allen leaves in FA (or not!!!). If CGY is adamant move onto next team for a move.
-Bastian has value, not much, but some, its not just futures IMO
-I like Hagues size but I think we need to consider a #1-2 LHD like Hanifin in FA, backup plan is Skjej
-Siegenthaler was concerning this year (loved him last year), if they think he is going in tghis direction I am concerned, he has a 10 team NTC starting in 2024-25. If Fitz doesnt like what he sees trade for Pettersson. I am no fan of Bahls, he has played better but I am done with a 6'6 240 guy who rathe r than hits x checks and gets caught doing so!
    - Mcann is too much money tied up 4 more @ $5M. I'd try and grab a bunch of UFAs as @DGIBB10 and @NHLFAN10506 have noted on these boards who can add some physicality/shot blocking, faceoff to replace MM and speed (Sturm in SJ). I think 2-3 players out of this list of names like Fogele, Trenin, Duhaime, Lafferty, Olivier to redo 4th line and 1- 3rd liner in WF. Would like Ross Colton but he's probably not avail and a bit pricey too. Beck Malenstyn is an intriguing player too. Use some of the players you had in the Markstrom trade to pkg for the guys in bold/itals
EDIT O'connor from Pitt was fun to watch, playing for home state might be worth a look too

Most importantly for me is to convince Pitt to move on from Sullivan. Fire Green midway through a game if you have to!
Oh yeah money, I didnt even consider it!
Thats what I would do, but have not put much thought into it! sarcasm

Siegenthaler has had off year without Dougie and with a number of injuries. But he is worth keeping, especially with his strength being defending against the rush (where Bahl defends well in d-zone). I don’t think he would be tossed into a 5-for-1 deal.

Markstrom to NJD could still have legs in off-season, but now that we know he blocked a trade to LAK, but approved a trade to NJD, our leverage ought to be even greater than it was before deadline.

Zadorov is not a $4.8m player. And if we have Bahl and Siegenthaler at similar amount combined….I’d stick with what we got.

Mercer should get a bridge deal (2-3 years) or term (6-8 years). Four years would walk him right to UFA.

Vegas and Seattle both likely decline.

    I think the ideal off-season is…
    1. Find the right coach
    2. Add a goalie if upgrade is available
    3. Add a veteran dman who protects puck well
    4. Add two fast, heavy wings for bottom-six
    5. Add 3C or 4C
