I'd do that deal, and not even think twice about it.

Huberdeau has been better, but that contract is way too long, for way too much.

Being better than a hurt guy is an exceedingly low bar to set for Huber. In any case for the same reasons you do this trade the hawks stay away. Flames would need to retain 2 mil on any deal to move him IMO, and Chicago is not the spot.

Chicago does precisely none of this

Calgary is projected to barely be above the floor next season right now. If we want to trade Markstrom as well we would be under the floor. Keeping Huberdeau is no longer hurting the team so in this scenario I would rather have the first

Yes, but would paying Huberdeau 10.5 hurt the team 5-7 years from now?

Hall won't hurt the team either for the same reason.

The cap is projected to be ~92M in 2 years. 5 years from now it will be over 100M. In 7 years his contract will have a similar cap% would be on par to Cole Caufield's. I view his deal as similar to Jeff Skinner. Skinner was brutal after signing that deal in Buffalo but since the team decided to rebuild/retool and the pressure came off him his game really turned around. Huberdeau isn't that different, he's played great since the start of the new year and there is clearly much more swagger in his game

Please stick to Montreal. These trades are ridiculous. You gonna pay for the Anderson and Dvorak dumps? Come on, dude...
