The current public perception around meier is that he's garbage and not worth his contract. Meanwhile he is on pace for a 33 goal season, despite spending most of the year injured and without PP1 time.

In fact, without the 10 game stretch where his skating speed was 20% slower than normal and he was blatantly injured, his pace is 73 points, 37 goals. He is vastly underrated.

Umm … you really should be focusing more on bad teams. How exactly are Marchand and Zacha overrated? Villardi? Really?

Marchand: I think he's an excellent player, but I feel like I still see him mentioned as a top 5-7LW in the NHL in a lot of places which I don't think he is anymore.
Zacha: I don't think he's an effective NHL center. His ability as a C is vastly overrated imo

Villardi is good, but the way people talk about the PLD return and him you'd think he was some gamebreaking piece

Marchand is probably closer to 10-11, but I will argue what he means to winning is probably understated in that assessment

You say that about Zacha, but it’s certainly not based on his play in Boston. Hes winning close to 55 percent of his faceoffs, is on pace for 60+ points, and is earning his money. Give me overrated Zacha any day of the week on my team

Zacha consistently ranks at/near the bottom of his team in xGoals%, and it's been this way for years. This year, 11th/12 boston regulars, last year 12th/14.

I think he gets far too much credit

Pettersson is gonna put up 90 points and is top 15 in 5v5 P/60 (adjusting for players who haven’t played much) despite his most common linemates being Hoglander, Mikheyev, and Kuzmenko (yes he played a decent amount with Miller and Boeser as well). He’s also really improved his defensive play from the start of the season when he was struggling there, and has seemingly been playing through an injury lately as well

I think specifically his defense is very overrated among a number of more casual NHL fans who view him as a “2 way Selke 100 point C” when imo he was never that.

at almost 9 millions, he should be more than a 60 point winger. if you have to nitpick stats, you might be biased.

I think last year his defense was close to a Selke level. Not to the level of a guy like Bergeron obviously but still very good. It hasn’t been as good this year, specifically at the start of the year, but he’s still a very good defensive C

Not really. I think Boqvist, Shakir, Zetterlund, Henrique, Tatar, Severson, Miller, etc are all quite underrated in fact

Mackinnon, Crosby, Nico, Aho, Zibenejad, Eichel, etc etc

Very few are underrated, but the narratives last. Jack and McDavid are among the few I feel are underrated defensively

Selke voting means very little. And I was pretty consistent in saying I thought the high point totals were a fluke. This year, he has the highest on ice shooting% in hockey, and still he hasn't gotten back to that.

he put up 30 goals 3 time, he is not consistent. ovi was putting up 50, meier doesnt belong in the same sentence.

He his not getting almost 9 millions for his hits, he is gettin paid for offence. He needs to put up more than a 60 points pace. Hits dont wins you game.

His EV Points are better than Meier and he’s averaging similar points per game. He’s been over 2.5 points per 60, which is good value at 4.75M cap and we’re super happy that NJ gave him up for Haula.

What credit is he getting?

He has 25 in 63 this year would be his 3rd straight and 4th in 7 full seasons he's only 27 seems pretty consistent to me and yep playing physical is worthless I'm sure everyone would agree
