PSA TO TORONTO:

- No one's paying a star dman like Hughes or Dobson AND a 1st for Marner
- No one's paying a 2nd/3rd for a dman that's yet to play a 30 game season with Toronto
- No one's paying a 1ST for Robertson (Toronto should keep him anyways he'll break out)

Those are the prices we don't care if you don't like them

Marner won't return a Dobson or Hughes tier AND a first. It would be Dobson/Hughes for Marner one for one and neither the Canucks or Islanders do that

Buddy, 9/10 of those ACGMs are coming from your own backyard, we're not the ones trading for them.

Robertson is massively injury prone and has yet to cement himself a roster spot, no one's giving up a first for an undersized winger who can't take a hit without ending up on IR.

Timmins is waiver bait, also injury prone as hell, there's a reason he was acquired for a 4th line player, in the AHL, he's also damaged goods, no one's giving up a 2nd and a 3rd for him.

Kampf is on a terrible contract, many teams would pass on him if he hit waivers.

Liljigren will be traded because he's not the kind of defenseman that Treliving likes, and for less than that.

And Marner, you can want that, you won't get that, because he has a full NMC, he gets to decide where he goes, if anywhere, before FA, he might only give you one team to negotiate with, and look what happens when the player says "I'll only go there" you get Kane and Tarasenko returns, well below expected. You only drive prices up with a bidding war, and NMCs prevent that. You can't even threaten to waive him to force his hand like Tampa did. If Marner leaves Toronto, he leaves for nothing as a UFA that they can't afford to resign.

if TOR wants a Dobson or Hughes for Marner TOR will have to add allot, Wingers and 2nd least valuable only after Gs and star Dmen and worth considerably more than wingers

Robertson for a 1st is a bit crazy but everything else is pretty accurate if not a bit exaggerated

Marner only has a year left, and wouldn’t be able to fetch a number one dman, Dobson just broke out this year and has been insane, Hughes is gonna win the Norris, Josi is basically one of 3 guys dragging the predators to the playoffs. Marner at 11m a lot of teams can’t even pay anyway

The issue we all face on this site is the sheer volume of Leaf fans - the most popular (& probably most hated by rival fans - jealousy) team in the league by a wide margin. So variety of opinions in Leafs Nation is wide & tough to find consensus. I agree with your basic point that Leafs have no reason to move pieces above (although lots of irrational leaf fans frequently try to dump them on this site). Thankfully this is make believe and Tre & team live in real world.

Robertson is a half ppg winger who's an impending UFA and has never had a full season in the NHL. He will not return a 1st round pick.

Since when is Dobson in the same tier as Hughes?

Robertson is a RFA who has to play another season to become a RFA with arbitration rights, but your point is well taken -- he's an undersized 0.5-PPG winger who's missed 1/3 of this season and substantial parts of other seasons; there's no way anyone is paying a first for him. But as @cooliny says, Toronto should keep him because he has upside and the Maple Leafs need all of the near-League-minimum contracts that they have or can get.
