Don't think the Yotes are the team to target with this trade and I don't think Iginla will be a top 7 pick.

Better to aim for a pick between 11-15 and grab who ever drops, whether that be a Yakemchuk or Eiserman

trading our unprotected 1st and not significantly improving the team is a recipe for disaster, and personally I don't get the Tij Iginla hype, I think he's a mid-late 1st rounder if his last name wasn't Iginla

If you're doing that then it's to get a player you really want because all you're doing is creating a hole that needs to get filed

While I agree with your take on the trade I do understand the Iginla hype. The kid only turns 18 in August, has good size, plays the game right, possesses a good shot and is ripping it up when it matters most rn. The Iginla name definitely doesn’t hurt either but it’s not the only reason he’s being talked up as a possible top 10 pick. Don’t be surprised if the Habs call his name with their first pick this year…I know I wouldn’t be disappointed if they did.

I think him and Eiserman are very similar, both are the same size, really good shooters, Eiserman is a few weeks younger and while the rest of his game may not be as good they're in the same tier for me and Eiserman isn't that highly ranked by most mocks I've seen. I look at the forwards in the draft as Celebrini being the clear #1, then Demidov Catton and Lindstrom in tier 2, and then guys like Eiserman and Iginla in tier 3, which in my opinion isn't worth trading an unprotected 1st for when we're a bottom 10 team.

it's more to do with the fact that Guhle is already our best defenseman and he's still really young, he's also the only one of those guys that is a guaranteed top 4 dman, I sure hope this doesn't happen but there's realities that none of those guys become top 4 dmen and we're looking back at a Guhle trade like we look at the Drouin-Sergachev deal

If Columbus lands at 4OA and Lindstrom is still available, I don't think there's any way he's making it past 4.

SJ: Celebrini (Best Player Available)
CHI: Demidov (BPA)
ANA: Levshunov (Likely BPA and fills a huge need)
CBJ: Lindstrom (Best forward available, and fills a need)

Oh yeah I completely agree trading an unprotected first next year to move up this year is a terrible idea, I was only saying that Iginla is worth the hype and IMO worth using the top 10 pick the Habs currently have to draft him is okay with me.

it depends who's available but I wouldn't hate him if the top 4 forwards and Levshunov are gone
