I can possibly see that trade. It clears salary for Columbus whilst giving a change of scenery for a goalie and a possible 2c if he can remain healthy. Ottawa gets two players change of scenery. Decent idea and I like Pinto as #2c but that is the biggest question along with Laine. Pinto needs to prove capable of 2c and Lanie needs a big bounce back and would have to rely on Pinto.

1. Parker Kelly and Mads Sogaard can be signed to league minimum.

2. Chris Tanev, Dylan DeMelo or Matt Roy would be a better fit in Ottawa than Sean Walker.

3. Eric Staal would rather retire than sign in Ottawa for 800K.

4. Columbus fleeces you.

5. Rangers decline because the Owner of the Rangers also owns the Sphere in Vegas and instructed their GM not to trade this year's first.

Would rather keep Laine and Elvis. The length of Norris' contract and his injury uncertainty are scary. Laine has the same issues, but he at least only has 2 years left on his contract while having the upside of being a gamebreaking player if he can get back to himself again.

I wouldn't be mad if that Columbus trade went through, but I don't know that it helps us significantly either. Long term you're hoping either Sillinger or Norris can lock down a 2C spot, and Sillinger may not play that kind of game while Norris may not stay healthy enough/produce enough to be a 2C on a contender. Texier - Sillinger - Norris would be an incredible 3rd line, though, but then Jenner or Voronkov is the 2C.

All in all, though, I don't hate it. Columbus probably needs to add slightly, but not more than a 3rd.

NYR probably decline, you'd be locking in one of Lindgren or Miller on the 3rd pair, which is a bit of a waste. He'd have to come with an extension if they're giving up that much (or at least assume they'd be able to extend him), and I'd assume that means Miller is likely gone after next season.

I don't really like it, but the Columbus trade feels like a realistic hockey trade for both teams as well as the players involved. Both goalies are a risk with big contracts. Both forwards are a huge risk with injury concerns. On the face, it kind of feels like a lose-lose for both teams.

I would do that Columbus trade. I really think all players could use a change of scenery and I feel like Laine would pair nice with Timmy or Pinto.

I wouldn't do the Jackets trade myself, but that's mostly because I have more confidence in Laine's ability to recovery from injury and ability to stop being a liability earlier than I do with Norris. And I don't think Korpi is going to do any better with a second try here than he did the first time, no matter how much I like him.
