while leafs fans may want it to happen, no - the bruins will not be self destructing this off-season.

Would love Swayman with the Devils but there's no comparable goalie trade in the cap era close to justify that return for the Bruins.
Think either Mercer or the 10th-12th overall pick, not both.

Id give up coots for any return but he’s closer to a 3C than a 1C at this point so temper ur expectations

I would gladly take a 3rd to get rid of Couturiers contract.

Disagree. A vezina caliber goalie who's only 25 is rare.

True that this type of player doesn't get traded very often, has probably only happened a handful of times in the last 20 years.
Best comparable that comes to mind is Cory Schneider being traded for the 9th overall pick 10 years ago or so.

This translates very well to this scenario, no? Either the 10th overall pick or Mercer, for Swayman.

Please remember the reason Corey Schneider was made available.

If Linus Ullmark had a 9 year, 8.6M AAV contract left with a 5 team he can be traded to clause and Boston could only fill the balance of their roster with minimum players forcing tough decisions.

Goalies like Swayman aren’t traded if a team has the flexibility to keep them

Regardless as a devils fan I'd do this trade overpayment or not

They were trying to trade Luongo (who had asked for a trade the prior deadline)....but Lou paid them a price they couldn't refuse on draft floor.

Fair point, funny enough, the trade involved NJD lmao.
