Maybe it won’t but Sogaard has a 1 way I think so run 3 goalies. And then worst case we pick top 10 next year. It’s an amazing draft too

Genuinely baffled that someone could watch this team get sunk by .890 sv% goaltending, then come to the conclusion that they should trade for a different .890 sv% goaltender making twice what the other one makes.

I think that Kuemper will bounce back, but this is still a slam dunk for the caps imo. You could ask for their 2024 1st instead of the 2nd rounder.

Sure, but like... is 51 games of Chabot better than 82 games of Chychrun? I adore Thomas Chabot, and if he were dealt I'd probably never get over it. But frankly I have absolutely no faith in his ability to make it to the end of an 82 game season healthy. You can't build a team around an 8mil Dman you know is gonna start falling apart by January. How's he holding up in the playoffs.

Right now I'm honestly down to trade both.

In all honesty, I'd be down to move both if Dickinson or Buium are still on the board at 7 after Chicago wins the draft lottery so Bettman can re-build the ratings friendly Chicago dynasty of the 2010's.

However not both right away, every defenseman in this draft will need a year at least in the AHL/OHL so 1 of the 2 would be needed until then.

I would agree with the chabot injury thing, but it is worth noting that chychrun also averages about 60 GP a year too, this was his first year playing more than 70. If i had to trade one away, we may aswell trade the one who’s going to get the better return

sogaard having a 1 way deal doesn’t mean he can’t be sent down though, just that he’s paid at a rate based on the contract value at the NHL level
