Detroit gets a goalie... That has been **** for half a decade now.

I'm sure he'll be better behind the elite defensive 2nd pairing of Ghost/Petry.

Buium and Maatta are both left-handed defensemen, so Anaheim declines.

I don't think that a player-based swap is likely to work. Anaheim is looking for a top-quality RW or RD -- it's beyond obvious that Raymond or Seider is much too much, and everyone else is too little. It feels to me like the only way Gibson-to-Detroit would work is some sort of pick swap. (?Gibson and Anaheim's two 2024 seconds for Detroit's 2024 first and 2025 second?)

We're are not trading Shai Buium, We can't afford John Gibson at 3 years @ $6,400,000 and Anaheim declines.

Patrick Kane and Shayne Gostisbehere will come in at least 3 x $5,000,000 each. Ghost just put up his 2nd best career numbers and he's not staying in Detroit and taking a major discount.

For one year David Perron will get around $3,000,000 Most of your UFA signings aren't even close.

Jake Walman is worth more than a 3rd, And we're not trading him anytime soon.

LOL Raymond isn't making more than Seider, Switch them around and you're closer.

Gibson isn’t the answer and that’s way too low on Walman.

Outside of a few big goals he's scored he really doesn't have much to offer

What do you call the collection of **** you've assembled beyond that first pairing...

Lmao I call that working with what you have. Would you like me to completely turn the roster upside down to make you happy?

Ghost getting his doors blown off on a regular basis is much better!

Except for:
- Defensively responsible
- Helped Seider get over the curse of Chiarot
- Outplayed his worth (shouldn’t be top pairing but DET had no other options)
- wants to be in Detroit
- still at a solid age
- great contract (not too much money/term)
- battles and goes after other team stars trying to make life miserable
- loved in the locker room
- liked by fans

Not saying he’s the greatest thing ever, but to have him in an appropriate role on the middle pair is fantastic until a prospect takes over

If Lalonde's deployment of the pairing wasn't so awful, he'd have much better box scores

To a degree, I can't blame Lalonde.

It's hard not to give that pairing all the God-awful defensive assignments when the alternative to Seider is Petry or Holl or Ghost.

Yeah it’s definitely a troll account. The kid’s admitted to me that they were banned on their other account and remade one just to get back on.. pretty lame life if you get banned and are desperate that much for an online forum.. if you ask me

Might be wrong but doesn’t Detroit have a really good goalie prospect, better to wait on that than Gibson, who’s been kinda booty in recent years and has a bad contact

Trades have to benefit both teams. From Anaheim perspective, this only hurts us.

We don't have room for one LHD on our roster, let alone two, we have arguably a stronger 23 and under LHD pipeline than Detroit does. Furthermore, while Dostal is looking good, he's not ready to be a dedicated started yet. There are 5 goalies on the UFA market this year that have started over 30 games, the headliner of which is Cam Talbot.

So now Anaheim is out a tandem goalie to pair with Dostal and shelter him from the teams that absolutely cave in Anaheim defense, and our payment is two unwanted LHD and a future 2nd. We would need pieces useful enough to give Gibson up for, or at least enough futures to go get a replacement goalie on the trade market.

The Gibson trade isn't worth it for both teams a stated above. Anaheim can't afford to lose him unless it's worth it for them. They still need him to help insulate and mentor Dostal.
The issues in Detroit isn't totally goaltending, Lyon proved that a bit. The issue is team defense and that is not addressed here. Gibson would still get lit up every night.

Yeah but Gibson will cover them. Look how great his stats are despite Anaheim's D!

Honestly for a decent price I'd take Gibson but he's not my first choice

As mentioned before, way too low of a price for Walman. Even if you only view him as a 3rd pairing guy, which I wouldn’t, he’s on a reasonably priced contract, provides a decent amount of offense, and is fairly responsible defensively. Hes the type of guy you’d want to keep rather than paying a 4C 5 mil or Chiarot 4+ mil.
