This might be the type of move that pushes the flyers in a younger direction to wait for Michkov . Need to find some pieces with the chance to be a 1C so you don’t end up like Minnesota

I'd take on Skinner for a 3rd if I'm the Sharks. That buyout is fine for the first year but man it goes up a lot after that. After next year:
$4,444,445 $6,444,445 $2,444,445 $2,444,445 $2,444,445

He's a cap dump not a buyout.

I was prepared to come in here & trash this
BUT i gotta say….. I’m not mad at how that lineup looks at all

I think it’s pretty improbable
But I’d like it- i think a lot

And i think most Sabres fans would agree
Nice job sir, well done

Only thing….
we wouldn’t buy out Skinner if we had all that Cap Room
I think that’s extremely unlikely

He’s neither
The Sabres aren’t looking to move on from him

I heard rumours that Ruff and Skinner will not work. Curious what happens

The question comes where does he fit. Will Ruff like him enough to be a top 6 winger? I don’t think so. Can he turn him into a checking forward on line 3? I don’t think so .

I feel like it’s gonna be kinda similar to Holtz on NJ. He was in Ruff’s dog house

I don't think so either, but if they needed to make room, it would be a low cost dump, rather than a buyout

He's a cap dump with a full ntc that doesn't wanna move away from his family (near toronto). In other words, he's gonna veto any trade. So if you REALLY wanna get rid of him, he's a buyout. To be fair I could be way off here, but that's what it looks like.

Our 3rd line isn’t our checking line though
When Ruff last coached the Sabres,
Vanek-Roy-Afinogenov was the 3rd line & none of them were good defensively at all
He fits in our top9 as a scoring forward just fine
He isn’t being moved this season

We don’t need to make room though
We’re very unlikely to being in big contracts this season
Gotta pay Byram, Quinn & Peterka

That’s exactly what Columbus would be looking for in a Jenner/Jiricek trade. Not sure Texier is necessary, though. Would he even make the Sabres lineup?

No one will like me saying this but extending Power at THAT price tag this early was a mistake. Could've done something like 5M x 3 pretty easily. He'll live up to it but means we have less to spend now and into the future

It was not a mistake at all

Bridging players like him is a mistake. Just like it was with reinhart

The issue with Reinhart was the 4 year deal. Bridging players on a 2 year deal outside their ELC is perfect because you still have team control. You’re able to sign them from ages 23-25 to 31-33

The gulf between Power and Jiricek dwarfs any advantage you might get from adding two bottom-6 forwards. If we were talking about Pavel Mintyukov, who was taken four places later than Jiricek, I could understand this, but as is, this is a terrible idea for Buffalo. It's not inconceivable that Power starts getting mentioned in Norris Trophy discussions soon.

You could be right, just feels like a lot to be paying someone who will definitely earn that salary in performance eventually, but imo hasn't quite yet

He didn't sign a 4 year deal. He signed a 2 year deal, followed by 2 one year deals
