Description
Per usual, ur not the GM and ur word isn’t law. Try to keep it civil.

This leaves the Flyers with 4 first round picks and 2nd round picks for the next 2 drafts and doesn’t even include what they could possibly get for Laughton which would add another 1st or 2nd.

The Flyers could obviously add to these trades as needed. Brink is a candidate that could be moved as a piece and Andrae also could be too.

Farabee got the Eichel neck surgery. Probably means he’s off the Sabres radar for trade.

i am not the gm, and im also not a gambling man but even I would put a huge chunk of money on that sabres deal not happening. Theyre hot for kulich and I doubt they take a big swing in the summer after flipping casey for byram.

That was a year ago and he played a full 82 games this season and had career highs lol. Do they think his neck is just going to randomly fall off his body? He’s perfectly fine.

And he’s not worth likely a top 15 pick and a top prospect

That’s fair, I do think Buffalo are good trade partners with the Flyers but you’re really only talking about Farabee, Laughton, and Cates. U all hate Laughton, Cates is gonna take an overpay to move, and then there’s Farabee so feel like the most reasonable option. But then ur not gonna get a 24 year old that just broke 50 points for cheap.

I mean he’s 24 and just broke 50 points playing basically 2nd and 3rd line minutes who is cost controlled for a handful of years he’s gonna cost more than a 2nd lol

I mean all those reasons are what make them bad trade partners. I could see them overpaying for cates, if they miss out elsewhere. But they run the risk of it being a bad system fit going from Torts to Ruff.

I actually think it’s the opposite. Cates is so naturally defensively sound but Torts’ system and use of him severely limits his offense. In a more free flowing system he might really rack up some points. I worry about him shining in Torts’ system not the other way around lol.

He could be, but he's also a little slow and that typically doesn't play out well for a team like the Sabres. It would be weird to trade mittelstadt for byram to add speed to the team only to go add cates. Not a slight at him, just strikes me as kind of incoherent.

A pile of 2025 picks does absolutely zero to make Anaheim a better team.

Man, all picks at least a draft away is super unappetizing, especially from teams who are on the brink of breakouts.

This is frankly worse than the "four firsts" earlier today from the Habs camp.

I’m not even trying to be rude but ur talking about two 1st round picks that will be top 15 picks along with two 2nds that will be early. This is an overpay for Zegras, when he is traded it won’t even be for this much.

Also, again not to be offensive, but Anaheim sucks. They sucked this year, will suck next year, and will probably suck the year after. 4 picks inside the top 40 including 2 picks inside the top 15 absolutely will improve the team a few years down the road which is when this team will actually be good anyway. Ur not winning a Stanley cup in the next 5 years so “a pile of 2025 picks” absolutely helps them.

Those picks aren't going to be inside the top 15, and you know that. Both the Flyers and the Sabers are on the verge of doing something, AND you'd have Zegras to help ensure that.

There's nothing compelling or even interesting with that offer. It's crap.

I mean I would swap the 2025 Flyers 1st with 2024 1st but I frankly think the 2025 draft will be better and more talented lol I value that draft more imo.

I also have no ill will towards Anaheim or their fans (other than Cutter) so I say this unbiasedly that I don’t see how you get anymore than that for Zegras and if some Habs fan offered 4 1sts for him and u still don’t think that’s enough then idk what to tell you and I feel for you guys because if he is traded you’re all going to be massively upset when it’s less than that.

I hope you guys get a good haul for Zegras but I don’t see a team offering more than I do here.

I can assure you wholeheartedly the Flyers will be worse next year. If you think we are making the playoffs next year then I have a bridge to sell you lol. This team massively overachieved and will probably be selling again in the offseason and getting worse.

That’s fair and I appreciate the conversation instead of the usual “X player” sucks and is worth nothing that too many people on here talk about especially with Laughton lol

Ferabee is a nice player, but I don’t think he’s worth that. At the very least Kulich would not be the guy on the board, especially not if you’re getting a first round pick. He doesn’t strike me as a power forward type and that’s what Buffalo really needs if they’re going to add a top six forward. Come to think of it adding another top six forward doesn’t make much sense because they don’t have room for one. Peterka, Quinn, Skinner, and Tuch are their top 6 wingers, none of them should be getting bumped. I doubt they’re paying a premium for a 3rd liner. They can probably find someone they like in free agency to play with Benson without losing assets.

I think even with a guy like laughton theres probably a spot for him somewhere where he can recapture some of his value. For me when I say sabres fans say it I interpret it as "its a sucky fit".

I may be wrong on that as laughton's name has come up before, but I have to think whoever they overpay for at 3C is going to be a good skater. Would have to be Id think to make it work.

Would hardly call a 24 year old 50 point player just a 3rd liner lol. Torts may play him there sometimes but Torts is Torts and I think every forward we had played on every single line this year lol. I’m pretty sure Tk played a game on the 4th line but that doesn’t make him a 4th liner.

Quite frankly it would be a win for Buffalo if half of ur prospects hits Farabee’s level. Most prospects on every team won’t even get that far.

He was named to team USA today, Cronins exit interviews came out today, Zegras towed the line and did as he was instructed to, he received a glowing report from Cronin. And what is Anaheims biggest problem? Scoring goals. We scored 5 goals less than last year, despite Vatrano scoring 37 (15 more than last year) and we traded away Henrique who put up 18 prior to the TDL (22 all last year)

The fact that Zegras was missing or hurt for the vast majority of the year was obvious on the scoreboard, so why would we subtract that from our roster? He's not going anywhere.

We could give a sh*t if it's two of X or four of Y, there's no impact piece in the offer, just a bunch of lotto tickets that are best become middle 6 players or do nothing with their NHL careers.

Well yeah I mean if he isn’t available then 75% of teams on here are useless lol. But it’s fair to think he could be available and frankly every player is available for a price. It’s been confirmed that Briere had talks with Anaheim and Ottawa for Zegras and Chychrun. Whether they told Danny to piss off of that they could talk in the summer who knows but they definitely had talks that’s been confirmed, and tbh if ur a GM not listening to potential offers ur not doing ur job.

Well, I see it this way. Peterka has already shown he could score 30 goals next year. Quinn could do the same if he is healthy. Skinner needs to be a top six forward to be effective, and contrary to the popular opinions of this website, he’s not getting traded or bought out. You’re not going to take Alex Tuch off the unit with Thompson, and Dylan Cozens is a second line Center. By default if you were to acquire Ferabee, the best you could do is put him on the third line with Benson. Maybe adding a player with 20 goal capability makes Peyton Krebs a better Center too? But you’re paying premium assets for a guy you’re putting on the 3rd line. I think Buffalo looks to free agency to fill that need unless there is a player they absolutely have to trade for.

Yeah okay that makes sense but there’s a difference between a 3rd liner and a player u would put on ur 3rd line lol. Stacked teams like Vegas and Florida have guys on the 3rd line that would be in a top 6 role on plenty of other teams. They aren’t 3rd liners they just happen to be on a deep team. Farabee is a 2nd liner for sure. He’s only going to get better. There’s also no guarantee Quinn hits 30 or stays healthy whereas if Farabee continues to grow and hits 60-65 points next season he would cost way more. It’s a gamble for sure and I think Philly is ready to gamble his current value for what it could be but maybe other teams aren’t ready to gamble on it yet.

Ferabee’s current contract could prove to be more valuable with time as the cap rises if he puts up 30 goals and can stay there. But it looks like the Sabres are spending more money on their blue line than they will on the forward group. With Peterka and Quinn both needing new contracts after next season adding another $5 million player is probably a luxury they can’t afford. The cheap contracts that Ostlund, Kulich, and Savoie bring to the table will likely be needed to fill out the roster in the next couple years.
