Bridge Raymond Push for Win Now Mode

Created by: Shlarcheyy
Team: 2024-25 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 26, 2024

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Okay starting this is my a potential idea for the red wings. The teams I have for the trades don’t have to be accurate here but I just picked ones I think that may use these players Robby Fabbri to Chicago hawks need players to score and help bedard he’s not the worst contract overpaid but only a year left than we got maatta who also has a year left not a liability and u would think Utah wants to add players like they said. Justin holl may have to do 50 percent retain vs the 25 I said but we are giving a 4th so who knows. The sharks defense isn’t great so it would be an upgrade. So having Raymond only take 6 mil for 4 years seems dumb since the cap will be raising and he’s gonna want a ton in 4 years I think it is more beneficial to only do seider now so we can use extra money on other players and make sure we can use the prime of the contracts we have since Larkin cat copp compher aren’t gonna get younger and are ready for a run you would think we would want their prime years for a cup vs in 4 years when they are on the wrong side of 30 and less effective. Having Raymond cheaper now will help the now and hurt the future but we will hope to get a team friendly deal by than with a long playoff run before 4 years is up. Seiders bridge would result in a 12-13 a year by than so that is out of the question.

In terms of signings, prioritizing players like Jack Roslovic and Elias Lindholm injects the Red Wings lineup with much-needed size and versatility. Roslovic's offensive prowess and physical presence, coupled with Lindholm's proven track record as a two-way player, align seamlessly with the team's strategic direction under the Lalonde system. We lacked size and defensive capabilities last season it also is some mid to late 20’s vs over 30 so we have some time with them so they can learn the system or be used to be flipped with value. Jack rosolivic is from Michigan which is self explanatory with this roster dynamic and only 27. Elias lindholm provides secondary scoring after a tough year so maybe a little pay cut here. He also is Swedish which is on brand as well. They stated when Larkin went down we needed another center to provide offense and I believe he’s the perfect guy. Flexible with compher trading draws of lindholm plays better at wing on the line. Perron team friendly deal to help the vet leadership lockeroom guy loves it here plays hard helps 2nd pp glue guy. Ritich helps the 3 way rotation they split games in 3 hopefully husso doesn’t suck. Ritich provides a stop gate for cossa. Barrie is washed and had an awful year get him cheap on a 1 year like ghost put him pp2 he’s got experience with it seider is pp1 and they can rotate if Barrie some how finds his offense again from his avs and edm days. Low risk high reward. At worse deadline rental some where else and we make another move for a dman. Martinnook another grinder guy that isn’t afraid to lay the body and has some depth scoring. Exactly what we need compared to the small bodies no physical bad defense fwds we had last year. He gets lost in the Carolina 30 million they have to shed out this offseason.

Eventually Edvidsson and seider on 1st pair on if works walman will get back to form and hold it until Edvid takes another step and gets more comfortable potential trade scenario involving Robby Fabbri to the Chicago Blackhawks presents a strategic move to bolster their scoring capabilities, particularly in support of Bedard. Fabbri's contract, while not the most ideal, offers a manageable term that aligns with Chicago's current needs. Accompanied by Maatta, whose defensive prowess could address Chicago's shortcomings, this trade benefits both sides. Adding Justin Holl into the mix further enhances the deal, especially considering the Sharks' defensive vulnerabilities. With the impending rise in the salary cap, it's prudent to prioritize maximizing the value of existing contracts, such as Raymond's and Seider's, in the present rather than banking solely on future potential.

The addition of David Perron not only brings veteran leadership but also a team-friendly deal, contributing to the cohesive locker room atmosphere and providing valuable depth. The goaltending rotation, bolstered by the acquisition of Rittich, ensures stability and support for rising star Cossa. Even with the inclusion of Barrie, perceived as a low-risk, high-reward option, the Red Wings mitigate potential downsides while capitalizing on his experience and potential upside. Martinook's addition further solidifies the team's physical presence and depth scoring, addressing previous shortcomings in their lineup composition. Looking ahead, the potential pairing of Edvidson and Seider on the first defensive pair presents an exciting prospect, showcasing the team's commitment to nurturing young talent while maintaining a competitive edge.

Lindholm isn't signing that. Shouldn't the entire idea of bridging Raymond be to bring keep Kane?

I see your point but I do think we would be too small. We need to be bigger in my opinion for playoffs. How much do you think lindholm deserves after a year like this? And how long?

I don't think that blue line will be good enough to compete unless you get great goaltending.

Agree. That’s why it’s not a full push to compete in year 1 of playoffs. But it would be a big step. It’s not possible or smart to go all out and cover offense d and goalie in 1 year. We still are far from competing. But I do think having a mix of addition by subtraction with Raymond being a bridge would be smart for us.

Seider is an idiot if he signs that long that cheap if it's less than 10 he should tell Yzerman it's 4 max.

I just don’t see him doing that even though it would be smart he wants to be here and wants to win. It would be different if he was in a different market aka leafs Nucks etc. I don’t see him making more than the captain even if he should. Just the Detroit mindset and stevey y. Also seider doesn’t have the points like other dman have which helps the number stay lower. Even though he has offense upside but was limited to league wide highest skilled deployment. He’s worth 9-10 easily but I don’t see him going for annything other than 8-8.5 and for 7 or 8 years. And it will be a steal!

Maybe, but you would want to attempt a deep run before Larkin turns 31 copp and compher turn 33.

Four years isn't a bridge and Yzerman isn't signing Raymond to a deal that sends him to UFA immediately.

A 3rd might be enough value to dump Fabbri's contract, but I doubt he is the kind of addition CHI wants to make. He does not "boost CHI's ability to score", he is injured way too often, and he is very unlikely to see much time on a line with Bedard, outside of a trial run and the occasional re-tread line pairings. We have already had Maata in CHI, he isn't good. CHI drafted Holl. If you want CHI to take all of those contracts like your description seems to insinuate, even though you have them all going to different teams, it is going to cost WAY more. But CHI just isn't filling their roster with cap dumps. They want to improve, not just add bodies and draft capital.

Lindholm doesn't sign that contract. He isn't worth for us to sign him for what he will get.
No thanks to Roslovic who is actually from Columbus I believe. He's not worth that much in my opinion. Doesn't have much offense line you stated, defensive play is good though. He wouldn't be that bad of an add, just a cheaper contract and a lesser spot in the line up.
Martinook I think is a great choice. Good leader, good physicality, good defensive play. Carolina probably wants to keep him.
Bridge Raymond MAX 3 years. 4 takes him to unrestricted free agency.
Barrie I would be okay with as a cheaper Gost replacement but the defense is still bad. That really needs to be addressed first. Alot of options in free agency, Tanev, Roy, Pesce, Carrier to name a few.

That Fabbri offer makes Davidson think and he may circle back on it closer to the new season if another contract is needed.

$8M is more what Raymond would get on a max.

He’ll never get a 4 year deal regardless.

Thanks for the feedback yeah I have Ros higher to dig the puck outta the corners he once scored 22 on a bad jackets team and with Larkin and cat I’d assume he would do okay. Just didn’t wanna stack the first line. Ray and Elias Swede connection woken be dreamy as well. I will fix ray to 3 years and cheaper on jack and I’d prefer us to get one of the top dman available but I feel they are gonna be too much I’d love Roy but I think he’s gonna get paid somewhere else.

Having closely looked at and compared Berggren and Raymond these past 2 years, Berggren should pull 75-80% AAV compared to Raymond. I would say a minimum of 4m AAV on a 3y bridge deal or maybe a 3m for a 1y deal.

1.3m AAV is a pretty massive undervalue and an insult to his skill level.
