B2024 BOS NJD OTT

Created by: dole
Team: 2024-25 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 24, 2024
Published: Apr. 26, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Preface this by stating Ottawa does not consider unless Norris is healthy.

Is the following a basis for a trade? Primarily NJD gets a starting goaltender, BOS a potential top six center, and OTT a right handed defenseman. Who is paying too much? Who is getting too little in return? What would you change?

Boston fans will disagree including Poitras over someone like Geekie but Ottawa would not consider otherwise.

Included a trade for Lindgren as I don’t want the Bruins signing a UFA who is already or will soon be on the wrong side of 30 for $6M+.

Only reason the Rangers trade away Lindgren is if his asking price is too high….that being said, I hope they sign him that cheap

I’d rather have peeke than Marino.
Peeke fits our 3rd pair and what we want from it more, he’s physical and causes havoc. Bruins need more guys like that and Wotherspoon and peeke as a pairing will do work on opponents if we can continue to move on through playoffs. They are the type of bottom pairing we needed last season against Florida.

Well in this scenario you would not be keeping Marino either but I get where you are coming from.

We got no value out of Rick Nash, I insist on a redo Mr. Cornbread.

OTT not trading Pinto, OTT would not trade Pinto within division if they had to trade him, that dont get BOS Pinto anyways.

Ottawa doesn't do this regardless of Norris's health

Norris could never have been injured ever and they'd still say no to that.

Why? In this hypothetical you have just traded Marino and would need someone to play behind Hamilton and Nemec. I don’t know NJs prospects well so maybe you have someone up and coming I am not aware of.

Not that Boston would do it but what if it were Carlo instead of Marino?

Carlo is a hell of a player, not sure Staios would do it still but it'd definitely be a conversation.

I would be pissed about that too if I were you but I remember the Bruins getting a young Rick Middleton for an old worn out Ken Hodge, so in my book, Boston still owes us....so pay up. We will take McAvoy for Jones. Thanks for your understanding.

Regardless of Norris and his health, the return isnt enough to consider for Ottawa. If you were eating Korpi's contract instead of one year of Forsberg at a very reasonable cap hit then maybe the conversation begins there or maybe if Poitras was swapped out for another piece closer to the ilk of Pinto.

But as is its definitely a pass without a second thought.
