No from Columbus, I'd say. Nichushkin only makes sense for Columbus if they're forced into a Laine trade and don't have a better offer.

So let me get this straight, you are getting a 2nd round pick for trading Nichuskin that gets upgraded if he get over 50 points? You do realize the guy has negative equity. Meaning in order to move him you have to pay a premium and basically get nothing in return but cap space. His contract has significant term. At this point you would have to send multiple 1st to move him. He is almost unmovable.

Not a chance Colorado is getting a return on Nichushkin with how his last two seasons have ended. He will need multiple seasons of being clean before anyone would risk taking him on and even then he may never rehabilitate his reputation.

I sincerely hope Nichushkin gets the help he needs and turns things around, but after screwig it up three times I have zero interest in my team taking on that risk at all, even if we're being paid for it.

why would the avs do that trade? chychrun is a worse, older player (and I say that as a yotes/utah whatever fan).

You’re right and you’re wrong. Players can’t be traded while in the PAP, so any trade assumes he has completed his suspension successfully, because if he fails one while suspended it sounds like his contract can be terminated. Any team acquiring him would have to be comfortable with his status, because nobody in the history of the league has ever traded multiple 1st rd picks to “get rid of a guy”. The guy is super talented with demons, somebody will take that risk though because talent always gets a second chance and right or wrong some. COL isn’t paying anybody to move him. But also impacting that value is a full NMC until July 2025 and he sure as hell isn’t waiving to go to CBJ.

Somebody will give him a chance if he completes the program successfully because talent always gets another chance. Somebody is going to say “hell he was messed up, averaged almost a ppg, is a phenomal defensive player, etc, etc, etc” and convince themselves they have the right environment to help him succeed. Now I agree with you that the return isn’t going to be anything special, or somehow have contingencies tied to it.

i agree, but the Avs will just give him away, there's no return for him.

Super talented? Dude is good bc he is playing with MacKinnon. He sucked in Dallas. Teams don’t forget.

So you don’t watch hockey and make stupid comments? Gotcha. If Cale Makar isn’t other worldly Nichushkin wins the con smythe. Check the Avs record with him and without him in the line up. But yeah MacKinnon just makes guys ppg players. Congratulations on one of the dumbest comments I have ever seen on CF. He is super talented. Him having a rough go of it early in his career doesn’t mean ****.

Yeah I think for the Avs is that they can’t justify bringing him back into the locker room after what has happened.

i mean regardless of this trade being not very good, this is just untrue haha

his year on year stats and game obviously shows hard work towards improvement. he just threw it away in the end.
