Since Anderson almost certainly isn't going to make it back in time, the order of top-3 RWs is pretty much set. It's Bjorkstrand, Atkinson, Bemstrom. After them is variable, but Gerbe has been shockingly effective, and Stenlund could also see time, and depending on who's picked for #4C Nash could also end up there. And if things extend into September and Anderson does make it back, he likely moves up to #3RW and things get interesting.

Dubois has #1C locked down. As for #2C, expect some experiments with Foudy and/or Texier, but if that doesn't work out, Jenner will be there; he's the one Torts has shown the most trust in. After them come Wennberg, Nash, and Shore. Foligno subs in only if injuries get silly.

LW is a little more interesting. The most productive LW we have is Nyquist, but Foligno has shown more chemistry with Dubois and Bjorkstrand, and Texier is at LW when he's not playing C (ditto Jenner, although he's been sticking to C more often lately). So those first three spots are all up for grabs. After them, Robinson and maybe Shore are likely to get first pick for fourth line duty. My guess is that it'll go Foligno-Nyquist-Texier-Robinson to start, but don't hold me to that.

RD is absolutely 100% set in stone. Jones, Savard, Nutivaara, Peeke as depth. Barring injury or disaster, that's it.

LD is mostly set. Werenski's the best overall and he's normally played with Jones, but Murray-Jones is a common adjustment if we need more shutdown power and Murray is healthy; in those cases, Werenski moves down to 2nd pairing. Murray is the #2LD, but 1) he's not always healthy, and 2) Gavrikov-Savard has been an absolutely killer shutdown pairing, so Murray could actually end up on the bottom pairing. Behind those three are Kukan and Harrington; Kukan's better, but Harrington keeps getting more minutes because he's incapable of being injured or something.

Starting goaltender? Flip a coin. Heads it's Merzlikins, tails it's Korpisalo. Or maybe the other way around.

Kyle Dubas:

1. Traded for Ceci to save Toronto from Zaitsev's crippling 6-year contract (that Lamoriello signed)
2. Traded a 1st to save Toronto from Marleau's crippling $6,250,000 contract (that Lamoriello signed)
3. Traded for our best defensive d-man (Jake Muzzin) and re-signed him to a good contract.
4. Traded for a goalie (Campbell) that had just signed a (far) below market value extension.
5. Signed Kapanen, Johnsson and Kerfoot to multi-year extensions at below market-value.
6. Signed Jason Spezza to a league minimum contract.
7. Acquired John Tavares without giving up any assets.
8. Acquired Ilya Mikheyev without giving up any assets.
9. Acquired Miko Lehtonen without giving up any assets.
10. Drafted Rasmus Sandin 29th overall.
11. Drafted Nick Robertson 53rd overall.

And sure ... Dubas definitely overpaid Matthews + Marner by a total of about $2,000,000 ... but you know what?

Mikheyev's value vs cost made up for that entire $2,000,000 this season (all by itself).
And his extension should be reasonable, so he'll probably continue that (all by himself).
I could also mention that Nylander looks primed to out-perform his contract.
I could also mention that Kapanen looks primed to out-perform his contract.
I could also mention that Sandin and Robertson will be steals on their ELC's.

But you're right ... he should have just traded Matthews + Marner because they had good agents ... right?
