That and you forget that Kane injury status deter the Rangers away. It more Kane wanted to come to NYC then NYC wanting him .

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>Once again, the Flyers had no leverage with Giroux last year. Tarasenko has an NTC and would ONLY go to the Rangers. The originally predicted return of a 1st and prospect already calculated for that factor. You don't get to use the same coupon twice on a single purchase.
It does seem like that is what is going to happen. But it shouldn't.</div></div>
But with the Tarasenko trade the Rangers were not originally going to go for Kane so they did not mind giving up a first given the fact that they had an extra first in this year's draft. The Rangers will not give up a first because they know they don't need Kane.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>Well, two things. We have zero need for Zach Jones. And two 2nd round picks is at least better than one, especially if one of them has some sort of attainable conditions to become a 1st.</div></div>
I don't think it will be a conditional first but I still think it is a fair return for the lack of leverage that Chicago has. I don't think Drury will just rob CHI for peanuts

HAHA, anyone that thinks the Rangers are given up LAF or Kakko, the 2023 1st round pick or the rangers top prospect will be sorely disappointed. The rangers are probably going to offer 2 2nd rounders and a B-C level prospect for Kane.

My Guess on Kane
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>Ok let's flip this around for a second, say Kane does only waive for NY and this is the only offer Drury is willing to put forward. Do you think Davidson will just forget that, do you think other teams GM's are going to overlook the fact that Drury isn't offering fair value? This sort of offer is as bad for Drury's career as the OF MB made for Aho was for his.</div></div>
First off every GM knows when you have leverage use it that is just part of business. Second an offersheet is frown upon because the players who get offersheet are RFA under full control by there teams and for the original team to meet the offersheet it takes capspace that team would not want to willingly give up.

My Guess on Kane
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>Arguing with you two is pointless cause you think the Hakws have zero leverage, reality is their leverage is a HOF player in Patrick Kane. They don't <strong>have</strong> to move him but will <strong>if</strong> they get a good package back and 2 2nd's + a BS bust prospect is not a good package.</div></div>
When Chicago ownership callls Davidson and ask him why did you not get anything in return for Kane , when the owner knows that Kane is leaving in free agency and at the time still had control of him. It is going to make Davidson very inept as a GM.

My Guess on Kane
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>PLD also is rumored to only be willing to sign in Montreal long term and is headed there in FA, does that mean Winnipeg has to take 2 2nds and Norlinder for him? No just like PLD Kane will get full value even if he limits movement to just NYR. BTW he hasn't even said whether or not he will waive and definitely hasn't said publicly it will be NYR or nothing.</div></div>
The difference is PLD is more of an asset due to his ability to help Winnipeg in the playoffs Kane is not helping CHI in the Playoffs. Also PLD is a upcoming RFA they WPG can trade his rights in the summer while Kane will be gone in free agency with no control from CHI.

Because if Kane does not decide to waive his no trade clause because he can't go to the Rangers than Chicago loses him at the end of the year for no return. That would make Kyle Davidson look like a moron.

If the Isles blow up the team and do a full rebuild then trading a goalie at his highest value , that has one more year on his contract till UFA is the smartest decision.

what if
Lou could have traded a combination of Hickey/ Komarov . Either broughtout or traded a first to get rid of Leddy. When Lou gave an extension of 2.5 million/year to Hickey he mis-evaluated his defensive prospect pool. I understand retaining Pulock instead of Toews at the time because he is a RHD and also completes the first pair that isles use in their system. Toews has clearly out performed Pulock in offensive and defensive metrics. Those are the kind of predictive statements that the development staff have to evaluate when contract extensions are due.

Keep in mind you're dealing with teams that are going to be contenders that mostly don't have a deep prospect pool or young talent. what team could out bid the Rangers. Toronto, LA maybe but I don't think so.
