The Fiala contract is bad. Too much money and term. The trade proposal is very bad too. Severson would need to be swapped with a high end prospect.

He has to be signed in next two days!

Kaprizov was offered $9M on a 8 year contract, what in the world makes anyone think he'd accept 7x$10M?
It's a year shorter and a million more than what he was already offered. It's as if people don't understand that he's going to make <em>less</em> on a shorter contract, not <em>more</em>. Contract projections at Evolving-Hockey put him at $6.5-7M on a 1-3 year contract, $7-7.5M on a 4-6 year contract, and $8-8.5M on a 7-8 year contract.
<em>Boy, Guerin sure is being cheap offering Kaprizov an above market max term contract when the guy has played less than 60 career games in the NHL so far.</em>

There’s simply no point in getting Eichel if we trade Kaprizov. Has nothing to do with not understanding Eichels skill level.

Not at the expense of Kaprizov and given our cap situation. As good as Eichel is, he doesn’t propel us into contender status without Kaprizov also on the team. We also have 15M in dead cap looming. Why bring on Eichel only to battle for a wild card spot?
You can defend your point all you want, but there’s not a MN fan on here that agrees with you, so I’d hope that’s somewhat telling.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Barbs</b></div><div>I honestly think Eichel for Kaprizov + is going to happen any day now. They're the same age and assuming Eichel's injury isn't a concern moving forward, they're both star players and have a few years of growth ahead of them. Kaprizov won't commit long term to the Wild which is probably twice as frustrating for the fan base when the Wild went ahead to create cap space for the next 2 seasons with the Parise & Suter buy outs. Eichel is done with the Sabres and they currently have more cap space than any other team to entice Kaprizov to stay which makes them an ideal fit IMO</div></div>
That would be a lose-lose situation. The point of getting Eichel would be to get Kirill his center, not ship him away. The Wild would be in cap hell with Eichel, and the fans would riot if we traded away a superstar that the fanbase waited for 6 years to come over. And if Kaprizov doesn't want to sign long-term in Minny, I doubt he'd sign with Buffalo at all. Might as well sign in the KHL, rather than play for the most garbage organization in the league. So the Sabres would essentially get nothing for trading their 1C.

We would be more than willing to pay Kaprizov. And I mean a lot. The problem is the term. Kaprizov wants 3 years so he could cash in the UFA market as soon as possible (this doesn't implicate he doesn't want to stay with the Wild, it means he wants to get two big paydays in his career, should that be in Minnesota or somewhere else) and the Wild obviously want to sign their first-ever superstar for as long as possible. Basically, Kaprizov's agent wants Minnesota to compensate the big-buck years he wasted playing in the KHL and Guerin is buying none of that BS.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kotkaniemi15</b></div><div>The Kings aren’t trading Arvidsson before he even plays a game for them.</div></div>
Probably not, but it fit salary-wise.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Amakoue</b></div><div>The fact is it's a bluff from his agent. people who aren't wild fans and aren't aware of the situation which Michael Russo from wild has been reporting on including that kaprizov is preparing to play for wild.</div></div>
At least you wouldn't have to pay a retirement recapture penalty.
Devils are still paying Kovalchuk's (and he has played for 3 NHL and 2 KHL teams since his "retirement" to Russia)

They're not going to trade him if he's bluffing. The only way Minnesota even entertains the idea of a Kaprizov trade is if they're convinced he's going to leave for the KHL.

You're asking to much of Zibs...giving up his NMC and signing an extension with Minni. Just wait till next season, keep your assets.
And even next season Minni's cap is lessened with the bigger cap buyouts of Parise and Suter.

Rebuild
I'd make the Shattenkirk and DesLauriers trades, but Minnesota and Carolina wouldn't, Nashville and Chicago wouldn't make those deals, that's an inadequate return for Henrique and a 2024 second for Manson won't show up in the NHL until about 2027, and the less said about that Gibson trade, the better.

Oh I'm sure. It's definitely fun seeing what all us know it all wannabe experts say lol 🤣 nah but it's fun giving crazy trade ideas. I think the one they keep bringing up is eichel. Just no way the wild can or should make it happen without giving up major future assets. I like Rossi and Boldy and wanna actually see what they can do.

Dumba is definitely getting moved, it’s just a question of when. With what he’ll cost, it would be irresponsible to sign him again. Given that this was a 22-23 proposal, I’d have a hard time saying no to this level of value. IMO this is much more than we’ll ever get.
