The Fiala contract is bad. Too much money and term. The trade proposal is very bad too. Severson would need to be swapped with a high end prospect.

Arizona doesn't have to move Dvorak, Not even close for him as Armstrong wants a prospect and a 1st round pick for him. Too much money and term for Kevin Fiala.

    The Tatar contract is gorgeous

Why do you wish he wasn't signed

He was a near point per game scorer a year ago, one of the best possession players of his generation and his xGA numbers are also really nice

    Golly

    😖

I don’t wish he wasn’t signed, I just think if they made the moves I made above they wouldn’t need to sign Tatar saw much. But I do agree with you it was a good contract.

Zona has no interest. They don’t need to trade him. If they don’t get what they want they hold him. They want a 1st, no 1st no trade, then the want either a good prospect or more picks. Nothing of interest there at all to them. Make the 4th a 1st at least you have a shot. They have turned down much better offers.

I agree that it would probably need to be a prospect but Severson and a 1st is pretty good value, especially considering our needs on defense. So I would call this absolutely tagging a line drive directly to the left fielder.

Yeah the value is nice and Severson is sick, but we won’t be able to afford an extension in 2 years, and we’re also not contenders, so it doesn’t accomplish anything. We’d almost have to start shopping him right away.

This would be a pretty bad undoing of Fitzgerald’s work over last two years.

ARI: probably the closest to fair, but if we are acquiring Dvorak as a winger, might as well keep Kuokkanen and Studenic, no? Could go either way here.

BUF: the 2nd rounder isn’t necessary. The gap between Boqvist and Mittelstedt, two guys with 3rd round values, can’t be a 2nd.

MIN: Fiala for Severson straight-up would be close if they had similar contracts/term. But one is unsigned and the other has 2-years left. Before Hamilton, I’d say no chance. Now, I would counter without the pick (and if Fiala agrees to 6 x $7.5 million).

TOR: so bad it’s not worth commenting on

BUF2: Johnsson had an off-year last season, but Devils have cap room and need for veteran forwards, so I would not rush to make this deal.

Zona closest to fair? C’mon man you are better than that.

Ignore the fact that Zona has publicly said what they are looking for and won’t trade him if they don’t get it. Ignore that, just look at from pure value. Put it on a scale. A scale of 100.

On the left side is Dvorak the target. 100. NJ has to get their to match value.

    JK 50
    MS 8
    4th 2

And that’s being generous It’s not even close.

This would be like Zona offering Fischer Crouse and 3rd for Nico. The parts don’t equal the sum.

Wild doesn't need d, much less one who will be a 4, 5 d that's your biggest mistake. Wild aren't then trading Kevin fiala for protected top 10 pick. Kevin fiala has more value than that.

    Not my mistake.
    Not my ACGM.

I love Fiala, and thinks he would ideal winger to add.
But not worth Severson and a top-10 pick.

If Dvorak is 100, Kuokkanen should be at least ~80-90.
Dvorack is a couple years older, twice as expensive.
They are both wingers here, but both can play center.
Kuokkanen is better even strength player, and better in possession.
Dvorak has better shot, is probably better in own zone as center.

Like I said, it was closest to fair. I can see both sides on this one, but will take bird-in-hand.

    Wow shakes head

I guess i gave you to much credit

Dvorak is a center that can play wing. He’s taken almost 5000 faceoffs already. He was more productive at age 20 than JK has been in total. He’s better defensively. JK’s ceiling is below what Dvorak was as a rookie. Lol. His ceiling is 3rd line wing. Dvorak is 2nd line 2 way center coming off his best year. It’s like comparing Dillon Dube to Zacha.

You are arguing with someone that said this is that fairest deal of them all.
Yet, you sound as if I am saying Kuokkanen is better than Dvorak.
    I said Kuok's value is 80-85% of Dvorak's value.

Kuokkanen is a winger that can play center.
He is two years younger and is paid 40% of what Dvorak is paid.
He just put up 0.50 pts-per-game to Dvorak's 0.55 ppg.
Even strength, Kuokkanen had 0.42 ppg to Dvorak's 0.34 ppg.
The Devils current top-6 centers are Nico Hischier and Jack Hughes.

I stand by my earlier comments.

You do know that points is far from the sole measure of a forward, and especially with a center. Then there's also the difficulty factor, Dvorak faces much tougher opposition lines.

    I know.
I mentioned Dvorak is better defensively.
    Kuokkanen is better in possession.
