Best team with certain criteria game

Yea I realized later on that in my post I didnt really lay out the rules all that well, the point was more to make a team that is good for next season but can also sustain the competitiveness for as long as possible.
Players like Slavin, Stephenson, Necas all make sense for this year, but all of them have huge pay bumps coming up making it unsustainable unless you're willing to lose cap elsewhere.

Yep he is no longer waiver exempt; the little green arrow is added to anyone’s name that is waiver exempt. Above - only Knies & Robertson are waiver exempt from this lineup

IF Toronto has to play Benoit with Klingberg, the season will have seriously come off the rails.

crazy how both those guys got as much or more money in free agency, almost as if they're not bad players, and it was just the leafs' cap crunch... canucks fans had no business taking cap dumps anyway after they gave up a 2nd just to dump Dickinson

Perfect.
Decent term - Great AAV.
Leafs haters in shambles.
Voting no is just outing yourselves
Just gonna edit this in so people can understand why this is a great deal.
4 years ago when we were working on the last AM contract, they were talking about 8 years at 13.8 avv (same % as McDavid). Evidence
Instead we went with the 5@11.634 that turned into 11.640,250, and now another 4 at 13.25.
That averages out to 9 years at 12.35aav instead of the 8 years at 13.8aav.
THIS IS A HUGE WIN

The term here is honestly underrated.
You're getting him for his prime years.
And you have the option to let him walk in 5 years at age 30/31

Leafs after trade deadline
CBJ should be paying to take Gudbranson on even with a bit of retention. Trading our top prospect, a guy who we just signed, and a 3rd for a 33 year old injury prone guy isn't a great idea.

Toronto Maple Leafs signed Easton Cowan (3 Years / $935,833 AAV)

Quoting: CameronSquires

In Cowan’s defence, he played a lot of the season on the 4th line with limited minutes, and he really stepped up on 1st line and special teams. If he had been on the 1st line all year, I think his numbers would look better.
Treliving reportedly did try to trade down, but I don’t think any GM really wanted to since it was such a deep draft so it makes sense to pick him if they were high on him, since the next pick they had was in the 5th round

"The Maple Leafs did have opportunities to turn down - plural. The best offer included a pair of second-round round picks, though the specifics beyond that are unknown"
"TOR did not see the risk of losing Cowan as worth the additional picks, they believed he wouldn't be available but those fears appear to be unfounded. None of the teams we spoke to indicated that Cowan was likely to go early in the second round. Perhaps even being available in the third round. "
"Maple Leafs Dir. of Amatur Scouting Wes Clark is one of the very best in the business, so you have to be willing to give him some benefit of the doubt here. If he thinks Cowan will be one of the best 28 players in this years draft, I'm not sure I want to be on the opposite side of that argument."
Elite Prospects
As a Leaf fan I love hard working/complmentary players like a Bunting (4th round), Hyman (5th round), Brown (6th round), Johnsson (7th round), Moore (undrafted) not taken 28th overall. I don't think TOR fans realize how little elite talent that is in the system now that Knies is here. It is very bleak.
The Minten's and Cowan's are not it.
Time will tell, but TOR might really regret this one.

Toronto Maple Leafs signed Martin Jones (1 Year / $875,000 AAV)
Literally one of the worst goalies over the past 5 seasons. Erik Kallgren had a grand total of 28 AHL games with 0 NHL experience before he came in. I’d be hard pressed to believe one of Petruzzelli or Hildeby couldn’t come in and give you the same type of goaltending as Jones.
Waste of a SPC and potentially blocking the development of one of the Marlies IF he ends up. Who knows, maybe more moves are coming and TOR keeps him in the main roster.
Needless signing IMO
