Should’ve been Dobson to be honest. Yeah, the rumor was that Holland liked Bouchard over Hughes/Dobson/Boqvist anyway and they didn’t think Zadina would be available. Jeez imagine having Seider + Dobson as your top 4 RD for the next decade…

Milano isn’t a top 6 player hence being spoon fed the minutes and Anaheim not signing him to a cheap QO.

You build a contender through defensemen & centers. What team has won with a 10M+ winger? Really weird a Toronto fan is trying to flex on the Wings for regular season glory.

How Id Finish The Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>StarWarsFur</b></div><div>Ther 2LD is Olli Maata who they signed for only 2.3 mil. If they actually want to compete next year which they seem to, Petterson is an upgrade over Maata. Regardless, I'd think there's some team with interest in Petterson, and if not, there should at least be interest in Dumoulin, who I'd prefer to move.</div></div>
Edvinsson, Wallinder, and Johansson will be with the club shortly so why trade for someone blocking them? Pick another club looking for a LD & has cap.

Eensy Weensy Retool
Pass from Detroit, not sure why Provorov returns more than Chychrun. I also don’t see the hype for Provorov, horrible even strength and can’t run a PP1 so that’s a high cap hit for a second pairing defensemen. Further, if the reports about him not being liked in the locker room are true you can’t even say you’re paying for leadership. Much rather just cut out Philly and deal directly with Arizona if Detroit wanted an established LD.

Final Draft Scenarios
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AnyoneButTheBruins</b></div><div>No Savoie? I'm on the Savoie train I just hope he doesn't go earlier, but looking at a lot of projections we have a decent chance at nabbing him.</div></div>
I’d add him too as a nice high end winger (don’t see him as a center at the NHL)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>iforgotmyname</b></div><div>Edvinsson is worth more than a 2nd overall pick? Then how come he got passed up 5 times the year before? I'm not saying he's not a great player, but don't tell me he's worth #2 overall and then some for a guy who hasn't played a single second in the league yet.
If Edvinsson was in this draft class, I don't think he'd be drafted before Wright, Slafkovsky, or Cooley</div></div>
Value isn’t a static figure. Additionally, draft classes vary year to year so saying he was drafted at X slot last year means nothing as you don’t factor this in nor do you even consider development. Further, Bob McKenzie stated that multiple teams had him top 2 if not first overall. Teams covet different things every year.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SevenLeg</b></div><div>It was to answer your question <em>what has Sandin done to warrant anywhere near that close of money</em> - you're not trading assets and paying him $4.2M for what he is now, but for what he <em>can</em> do for the next 10ish years.</div></div>
That’s just one of part of the question. The second being my response saying he isn’t a Yzerman type player and it’s an organizational strength in the pipeline. So why spend assets/agitate an organization for something that isn’t a need? I’d understand paying for his potential if he was a fit + need but he’s neither.

He’s also not a Yzerman type player like I mentioned. We also have Edvinsson, Wallinder, Johansson, Buium, Viro as LD so why spend assets to “steal” something that exactly high on the prio list?

Honest question, what has Sandin done to warrant anywhere near that close of money? I’d also say he isn’t a Yzerman defender based on his size + skating & what I’d call as a lack of compete as it seems he wants to be handed a top 6 spot.

No from Detroit, Edvinsson is going to be a staple. I’d rather Edvinsson + Nazar/Gauthier/Kasper than Wright + Smith. If he had the same projection as Bedard then we wouldn’t see him disputed or slipping (McKenzie) on boards.

2 year contention window
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>The_Rocket</b></div><div>Okay. Total points over the last 3 years is clearly the determining factor for whether or not a D-man is good.
Doesn’t matter if most of his points are secondary assists. Doesn’t matter if they are inflated from owing on PP1. Doesn’t matter if his 5v5 points per 60 are not even top 50. Doesn’t matter that he struggles heavily in his own zone. Doesn’t matter that the wings allowed fewer chances against with Hronek on the bench instead of on the ice.
Maybe the reason Detroit is the 30th team is because they rely on players like Hronek to lay top pair minutes when he is a 3rd pair caliber defenseman</div></div>
Clearly an indication of production there’s various factors to determine role with team. No one ever said he was a top pairing defensemen but merely countering your statement he isn’t a top 4 on most teams. Per minute stats when not playing appropriate competition , defensive scheme, or complementary linemates easily explain that issue. As for analytics that leverage high danger it’s subjective to the arena as it’s not an exact measurement so it can fluctuate from each respective arena. Typically when you face the other teams top competition playing above your skill level will typically do that. Again, common sense would say playing on the ice against a Crosby versus some bottom 6 guy would result in more shots on net.

2 year contention window
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>The_Rocket</b></div><div>Not sure what a HERO chart is but okay.
Look, an offensive d-man with first unit powerplay time who can’t crack 40 points, mostly picks up secondary assists to pad his point totals, wastes shots regularly from low-danger areas, is slow in making decisions in his own end, and struggles to keep forward to the outside is not a piece worth aquiring. Especially not for a solid defensive Dman AND a 1st.
Excusing bad analytics and poor performance due to environment or whatever when other defenseman on the same team actually played good hockey is lazy.</div></div>
Again, 35th in points for in the last 3 years on a bottom 2 offensive team. You’d realize that Seider was PP1 QB but I’m sure your charts forgot that important fact. That first
Is 30th overall give me a break jeez do you believe half the crap that you spew?
