Simple as that. The problem the caps should panik is that they do not have a draft pick until round 4. They also do not have any high end forward pospects outside Vrana. Some B chip D prospects and 1-2 A level prospects that are 18 and probably not close to the NHL. The right side is weak and Vrana is playing the wrong side. Still think this roster makes the playoffs as a wildcard. I think kuzy makes a little more towards 7 but that is a null point bc still within the cap.</div></div>

A lot of great prospect coming, doesn't matter they don't have a pick 1-3 round in a weak draft (plus would bet money they trade for a higher pick).

Top 6: Vrana, Barber, Gersich
Bottom 6: Boyd, Stephenson, Walker
Top 4: Bowey, Siegenthaler, Hobbs, Johansen, Djoos
Bottom 2: Lewington, Priskie
Goalies: Samsonov (will be elite top 3 goalie down the road), Vanecek.</div></div>

Vrana is either going to be a top-6 or a Beau Bennet type and I am leaning towards the latter. You have like 4 top 4-D ceiling type players but 2 are several years out. You can never really tell with goalie prospects and how they will adjust. Baber is either a boom or bust but will be a mid-6. and the bottom 6 people you have I see nothing special that you would want to keep on a winning roster. Unless they are guys you want to hit , pk, and fill ice time. but I don't think they will be productive.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Adamitis</b></div><div>Why are the Penguins paying Bonino if Thornton is incoming? Waste of space to pay for a 3C when you have 3 top six centers

A lot of this seems predicated on Pittsburgh being the "win now" designation. That would be nice....

Probably have to sweeten the pot to get MAF to Vegas. Maybe add a good player like Cole or HQ and they take Fleury with retained salary</div></div>

Thornton wants to win a cup. He isn't going to get paid by a cup contender to do so. He knows this. I still doubt he comes to PGH but maybe. Williams seemed pissed about Capitals not being able to win. So I think he goes somewhere he can. I think that I underpaid him. Why the hell would you have to sweeten the pot for LVK to take the best goalie available in the expansion draft assuming fleury waives and is not traded. You make no sense on this and the last post. You pay Bonino because he is a solid 3rd line center, PK, shot blocker, who turns it up a notch in the playoffs. The penguins are in win now mode for 5 more years with a young core at controllable contracts and Phil, Malkin, Crosby, Letang. After that they are all on the decline and the young kids will get paid here or somewhere else.

Out of Guentzel, Rust, Sheary, Wilson, Kuhnackel. Wilson is known to have the best hands. Sheary is the fastest. And I have been impressed with Archibald. You are getting a top 6 forward, top 9 forward and a bottom 6 forward with a lot of playoff experience. Sheary can create on his own when he started out on this team. Wilson is best when you put him with skill and gets offensive zone starts. Penguins are not able to do that because the team is stacked. Carolina wants to trade Hanafin. I think that team needs forwards and goaltending. Taking Lack allows the team to either sign someone Bishop? See the other threat for Carolina. If that team cannot make it to the playoffs and compete for a cup with 1 or 2 additions with the 20M in cap space then I do not know what they can do for a cup.</div></div>

Sheary is a decent talent, but you're severely overvaluing Wilson and Archibald. Neither have really much value, as they are fringe NHLers (especially Archibald). While you aren't wrong in the assessment that Carolina needs help up front, and has a surplus of young talent at D, the kicker here is that they could get MUCH better forward talent for Hanifin from another team. It wouldn't be a stretch to get a team like Edmonton to give up an established top 6 wing for defensive help.</div></div>

Archi is a 2nd year pro out of college. In his second year he earned a call up with 3 goals in 10 games on the 4th line. (correction: emergency recall for 1 game last year). Big physical game can grind you and can score. Line of Wilson- Rowney- Archibald looked really good at a stretch towards end of the season.

Wilson is streaky. 103GP 13G 19A 32P 0.31PPG . He scored in bunches at lower level. But I think he needs confidence and to play with someone with skill. He seems to do his best when playing 3rd line but just the skilled wingers the penguins have he rarely gets that opportunity. He has good hands and really adjusted his game to play in the NHL regardless of whether or not he is scoring. Both Archie and Wilson can be used as penalty killers later in their career both have started working on that aspect of their game in WBS before being recalled. I think it would be a rip off for pens if they did Rust/Sheary/Wilson or Archie.... The first 3 over 100-115 games they have 78 goals, 75 assists and probably combine 100 playoff games of experience. Also Rust and Sheary is they can create on their own. I think they are pretty underrated. I just wish sheary would grow 6 inches and add 30 pounds of muscle. They are fearless and arent afraid to be hit or throw the body around.
