Try winning a round before you start talking about back-to-back Stanley cups just saying you're not getting out of the Atlantic division this year remember what happened the last time you had home ICE advantage against the lightning in the playoff series even though the refs were giving you the series

The entire point here, is that the situation is vastly different and Simon to Cooper is apples to oranges, both in coaching readiness and in the position of the organization.</div></div>
Keep telling yourself whatever makes you feel better when it's Ben Simmons check back with me.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DeadWingsv2</b></div><div>Cooper took over after two abysmal seasons back to back at the end of a hard nosed Torts tenure and the failed experiment of Melrose's return, followed by underperforming stints under Tocchet and Boucher and going with experienced, hard nosed guys wasn't getting it done. Also, Cooper had just won the Calder cup with Norfolk. This is a COMPLETE apples to oranges different scenario.</div></div>
Boucher brought them to the ECF it was Vinny contract and a very rare Yzerman mistake resigning Rollie the Goalie that Was the major issue

Not really Cooper clearly Had a more talented group of players l(the core of which went on to make 5 Conference Final in 7.years including 3 Cup Finalal appearances amd back to back Cups
Besides that how many times did Detroit have to call guys up because of covid injuries and everything else that left the Griffins really short-handed this year Cooper never had to deal with covid as an AHL coach

Coming out of the Blashill era, I think they need someone with some cache to come in. It might not be Maurice, but someone like that... Hell, maybe even Claude Julien depending on how he does with team Canada at worlds...</div></div>
Okay "Cache" isn't the Stevie Y way of doing things

The more I think about it, I think Yzerman is going to go with a more experienced coach that strikes a balance between being hard nosed, but still relatable to his players. I'm really starting to warm up to the idea of Paul Maurice, if he becomes an option.[/quot

Lines and special teams for guaranteeing another first round exit for the Leafs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dannibalcorpse</b></div><div>Honestly, to me, it's not the lines or special teams that are going to doom Toronto.
It's Vasilevsky vs. Campbell. Jack Campbell has had a fine season, but after watching the last two Islanders playoff runs and how they ended, I'm convinced there's no better goalie in the NHL right now than Vasy. Campbell is gonna need to be a combination of 2003 JS Giguere & 2011 Tim Thomas to have any hope of pulling off the upset here.</div></div>

TB very reasonably can be going for 4 if that's the case you stand a better chance of having a snow storm in Tampa in August than that trade happening even if they aren't its a coin toss at best . Quite clearly prospects amd picks are low on the totem pole of priorities

Julian Briesbois would have to be utterly completely and totally ****ing stupid to make that trade.
The lightning have three right-hand shot defenseman with any NHL experience sign next year so they go and trade one for an ltir contract that is the dumbest possible thing I could think of .
There is absolutely no positive to have a guy on LTIR unless it is absolutely necessary what this trade would do would give the Canucks Foote so the lightning have the right to pay the uninsured portion of Ferlands contract that's asinine completely asinine.
You're explanation of the TB trade shows a complete lack of understanding how ltir works

You're taking one of the best defensive zc and
Turning him into a winger is foolishness imo there's a reason he has gotten Selke votes playing against top lines regularly

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rednwhite</b></div><div>I am not so sure that they decline immediately. Suter likely matches Cirelli's production on that 3rd line at a fraction of the cost. Suter had 7 less point on a significantly worse team. Suter is only 1 year older then Cirelli as well. Also is Cirelli not a UFA in 2 years? Veleno is a former 1st rounder finishing his 1st year in the NHL. Seems like a reasonable deal for both teams to me.
I assumed Ken Holland gives Kane a massive deal and can't afford JP but I agree they will likely match it if they can.</div></div>
