Actual Trade Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Snowhawk18</b></div><div>You conveniently ignore the fact that the Rangers are getting a 4th back which is likely to be early in the round. </div></div>
Still not worth the difference imo. Even in some bizarro world where the Rangers win the cup and say the Blackhawks finish dead last, that's still 32 picks apart. Pick 64 is worth double the value (in Game Score Value Added) as pick 97, so not worth it. Let's say the actual value is worth a 3rd for retention, based on precedent. The Rangers (or potentially Dallas') 3rd is not covering the difference in this scenario lmao.[/quote]

Actual Trade Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>Kane's base salary last season was only $2.9M. The deadline is is about 2/3's of the season. $2.9M X 2/3 = $1.9M, $2.9M - $1.9M = $1M, and 25% of $1M is $250K. Kane was only owed $250K by AZ. Lindholm's base salary for this season is $4.85M. Which means, if this trade is at the deadline, and CHI retains 50%, that would leave CHI liable for $825K. That is more than what Kane was owed.</div></div>
Let's go back to 2022. Max Domi's salary was $6M. (with a cap hit of $5.3M). Florida retained half when he was traded to Carolina. $6M x 2/3= $4M, $6M-$4M=$2M, 25% of $2M is $500k.
His retention was traded for a 6th round pick and the rights to Yegor Korshkov, who was unsigned and is still in Russia.
Cap > real money to teams like the Rangers, and nobody has ever gotten a 2nd solely for retention. Don't care if you attach a 4th, doesn't make it worth it.

Actual Trade Deadline
Arizona got a 3rd to retain 25% on Kane last year, which is less than 50% of Lindholm. So long story short you're not getting a 2nd to retain 50% on Lindholm

IMPROVING THE REBUILED
I'm a bigger Kovi fan than most but just bc Kulak got a 2nd doesn't mean he will lol. He'd be a hard 7th/8th dman on this team. Probably wouldn't be a vast improvement on a lot of team's bottom pairs to justify that price either...

Gauthier was 3rd in scoring on Team USA last year as an 18 Y/O, he's gonna be a monster this tournament. And you'd have to think Poitras has a great tournament after being productive thus far in the NHL.

Yeah, we read your ACGM, we know all about insanity. Nothing in your package worth a first, so the Rangers obviously won't send Othmann and one to dump Goodrow for a rental 3C. Pure delusion.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AC14</b></div><div>I think any realistic situation involves a good prospect, a decently young roster replacement (Zetterlund ->Sharks), a great prospect and a 1st + 2nd (possibly conditional to turn into a 1st).
I’m pretty convinced for Buch at 50% the return would at bare minimum be in the realm of the Meier trade. I don’t see why he would be moved for less especially this season when a more Horvat return is something that’s conceivable at the tdl. The overall pieces between the two aren’t that far off.
Ohkutiok + Zetterlund + Mukmahdullin + late 1st + cond 2nd
Vs
Mid tier 1st + Raty + Beauvillier
Hypothetically just spitballing.
Kakko + Schneider + Othmann + 1st + 25 cond 2nd. For Buch at 50%.
Not really sure how much that accomplishes for us versus just keeping Buch. We’re bound to be stuck right on the cusp for a while id imagine. Our defense isn’t great but is too good to flatline. Same with our forwards. And our goalies have been stealing points left and right. Extending Buch realistically is probably our best route, unless someone is willing to chuck a true top end d prospect our way</div></div>
Ok I was way off lmao. Understandable though.

Either way the Rangers have the prospects and picks to get a deal done. I'd imagine they would want the deal centered around Kakko but his value has dipped a lot and his injury seems bad so the Blues likely don't go for him. Do you have any trade proposals?</div></div>
Yeah, it seems unlikely considering it basically would be Drury showing he made a mistake... it'd benefit them like crazy but I think the combo of that and probably the potential weight of the package just might be too much. Sucks but that's the hole he dug.

👉👈 is that all you want for Buch? or would we hypothetically have to pay a "your GM made a bad trade involving this player once and looked stupid so you have to pay more" tax on him?
Bc he might be the answer to getting Zib + Kreider going at ES.

Does NJ really need a guy like Girard when they have Luke Hughes tho? Plus Byram is injury prone most years, Girard is almost like an insurance option CO always has.... I think it all depends on Landeskog tho, if he's healthy, which who knows if he will be, then they likely need to shed cap.

I mean Tampa waits a week or so and they get Domingue for free on waivers (if that's even who they want). Rangers aren't gonna waive Quick unless he allows 7 tomorrow against the Islanders.
