Don't listen to that type of noise, Marner is not a physical player he shows up in other ways. Some people just see a skilled player who makes the game look so easy and think because it's so easy for him, he must not be trying.

You know what is sad, the fact that you think 22 playoff games in 3 years is a good thing for a team with this much talent. The whole roster needs to be revamped and the culture needs to change if the Leafs want to be considered a cup contender and it all starts at the top with dumping Shannahan and his Shannaplan. After that Mathews is the next biggest issue, his me first attitude and p*** poor leadership isn't what the Leafs need to be a championship team. The roster needs an overhaul, building from the net out will allow for deeper runs. Getting a goalie like Saros is a great start, add a couple of bigger heavier D like Anderson and Parayko would do wonders for the team. Nylander, Tavares, Marner, Domi, Bertuzzi and Knies should be good enough to outscore the opposition if the D and G are improved. Adding another center like PLD, Lindholm or Lundell would also be needed as well.

Habs - Leafs trade
Why doe everyone want to trade 2, 3 4+ first round picks worth of value for guys who are only worth 1 (in this case 2) first round picks? Keller is a great player but he is not a future Hall of fame, he isn't gonna be return more than 2 1sts and a good prospect like Farrell or Kidney and Necas is definitely not gonna return much more than Lehkonen did, so please just stop with the ridiculousness.

I don't think Necas is 2nd line material, he has had 1 fruitful season in 5 full NHL seasons. Ironically, his ice time, play style and yearly points break down is exactly the same as Max Domi's (right down to the season where he put up 70+ points, Domi was 24, Necas was 24) would you consider this package if it was Domi (at 25) + KK for Norris + Chychrun? Personally I wouldn't, but that's just me.

IMO, Ottawa easily decline. KK is a cap dump and Necas wants 7+ mil to be a 55 point per year player (in other words, he wants to be the next KK, an overpaid over hyped middle 6 player)

Guhle, is absolutely off the table and has way more value than Holtz, Guhle for Mercer is fair, for Holtz you are looking at one of Harris or Struble + a 3rd.

It's still 20 hours between them, basically halfway across the country, it that is relatively close then I would hate to see what you consider to be far. 20 hours is more than it would take to drive from NYC to Tampa Bay. Hell you can drive from NYC to New Orleans in less than 20 hours but Missouri is "relatively close" to Utah!

To be clear, I would do both Habs 1st this year for Keller which is the same as Reinbacher + Mesar (5th + late 1st) but the proposed deal is basically 5th + the Jets 1st + the Habs (assuming the addition of Keller makes the Habs a playoff team) and Flames 1sts next year, Keller simply isn't worth all that IMO.

I don't know what you are yapping about, I haven't posted a Zegras trade in months and have actually agreed with the evaluation of OldNYfan's opinion on a fair trade. I also agree that Montreal and Anaheim aren't really good trade partners since both are in about the same spot in their rebuild and looking for similar peices (1 or 2 young top 6 forwards) and have the same pieces to trade (mostly LHD prospects and picks). What I said on this thread was meant more as a joke and because GeneralLandro called Barron a bleh RD. It's not that Barron is a bad RD he is just not as flashy as many other 2 way D men, he is more of a cautious calculated 2 way D man like Petry was for the Habs. I know that every Ducks fans want Reinbacher + 2nd or something similar to that (as they should) but valuewise Barron + a late 1st is the equivalent of that butthe Habs aren't going to be willing to give up that type of package unless it's for Carlsson not Zegras (which the Ducks wouldn't do either). I know everyone wants the sexyest package possible but that's just not gonna happen between two teams in the same situation. That's why this is such a hotly contested trade on both sides, everyone wants to win the trade instead of both sides breaking even (which teams in similar positions are gonna have to do, if a deal is to be made).
I am sorry to Ducks fans who mistook my earlier comment as being an entirely serious response it was all just in fun to lighten up the thread a bit.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>You're conflating several different statements we've made over the past three months, and just plain inventing some things, whether intentionally or not I don't know. Personally, I think that you've taken what we've consistently said and are mis-characterizing it in your own mind. We've always been very specific and never used the words "top forward" or "top RhD prospect." Specifically, we've listed three possible formulations for a Zegras trade: (1) Slavkovsky; (2) the Montreal first and a top forward prospect like Beck or Mesar; and (3) Reinbacher and your 2025 second. I don't ever recall any of us mentioning Suzuki (why in the world would we need a center?!?) or saying "the Jets first and a top 4 RhD prospect." What I recall MY saying was that we would take Reinbacher and the Jets first in response to this very proposal (Barron and the Jets pick). Finally, it's absolutely untrue than any of us have ever said we'd trade Zegras for Caufield.</div></div>
It was a joke, to lighten him up a bit, Barron isn't as bad as he seems to think he is, he is just still really young and raw.
Some have said "any of the Habs top 3 forwards" meaning Suzuki as well.
I think you should go back through your fellow Ducks fans comments, I know you have been consistently saying what you claim but Giggywithgibby thinks he is getting an Eichel or Tkachuk type of return (or better) and quite frankly Zegras isn't even remotely close to those players.

I mean it's what you have always said the Ducks wanted in a package for Zegras, either Our 1st + Beck + Mesar or one of our top forwards (Suzuki, Slafkovsky or Caufield) or <strong>the Jets 1st + a top 4 RHD prospect</strong>. This package satisfies the 3rd option, Barron is a top 4 RD prospect, his ceiling might not be as high as Reinbacher's but it is still top 4, it is still higher than Mailloux's as well and heis only 22 so he still has time to develop.

It's actually not that hefty of a price, two years ago at the draft the Yotes acquired the 11th pick from the Sharks for 27th + 34 + 45. I would say Struble = the 34th pick (perhaps even slightly more) so that leaves accounting for the 45th pick, so just add the Avs 2nd and it's basically the same return the Sharks got.
Edit, sorry read the deal wrong lol, guess you would have to add the Jets 1st to make it the same deal lol

LOL, he had 1 season at 70+ points, 1 season in his 5 year Career, he would have to have had 1 or 2 at less than 70 to "bounce back" he is a 55 point player on the 5th best team in the league, you seriously think he is going to put up 20 more points consistently on the 5th worst team? His 70 point season is an outlier just like Domi's not his norm, I wouldn't trade more than like the 15th ova pick and a 3rd for him, he isn't better than Dach or Newhook and isn't even close to being as good as Suzuki or Caufield. He is a middle 6 winger who averages 55 points a year and he is gonna be looking for north of 7 mil, Necas is going to be the Canes next KK, a seriously overpaid middle 6er.

WTAF is that Necas trade? He really just isn't good enough to return more than a 1st + 2nd tops! He averages 55 points per season and is horrific defensively, basically he is Jonathan Drouin in a Canes uniform, would you give that up for Drouin? I sure as hell wouldn't.

Fair Trade or Not
Personally, I think it's the type of deal that it would require for Marner, however it's not a move the Habs are going to make. Outside of Reinbacher and Mailloux we have 0 potential top 4 RHD for the future. Savard isn't going to be here long term, Kovacevic is a 3rd pairing guy, Barron is likely traded this offseason, that leaves only Konyushkov and who knows when he will come over, so unless we waste our 1st on a RHD instead of just filling our current hole by drafting a forward this makes no sense for the Habs. The same thing can be said for the Leafs though, they are trying to win now so they don't really have time to wait on Reinbacher or the 1st to develop. So as fun as it is to dream about a scenario like this, right now I don't think either side does it
