I generally like this contract. He's going to be Carolina's starter. Still can't believe Carolina chose to trade Ned though... what a disaster

He'll need to average 33 goals over those five seasons to beat Gretzky's record.

Ew no, Ghost is an anchor. I would rather grab a defensively reliable #4 for 1 year that can play with either Tanev or on the 3rd pair. Like McCabe

Columbus declines as soon as you say Bjorkstrand. They aren’t moving their best player who just signed a long term extension with the team and most importantly, he wants to be in Columbus (do you know how rare that is, that a player wants to be in Columbus?) tbh they will trade Laine before trading Bjorkstrand.

Eichel Forsberg Garland McCabe
I like the ideas here!
I think you would have to replace Backlund with a prospect in the Forsberg trade because I cant imagine they want an older guy. With 1 year left, his value shouldnt be more than a prospect and a first. Good move!
I dont understand how people think Tkachuk would go the other way for Eichel.... You could argue Tkachuk is more valuable and neither team will come to terms in that move. I will say, the value is more than fair imo, but I think Buffalo would want younger players because they need to rebuild again since Eichel is gone.
Id say great job here overall, really like the ideas!

I'd rather have the 1st than Zary (essentially replacing our lost 1st), but it's not too far off. I still believe other teams can beat it/Arizona do better, as it is rumored to be at least 5-6 teams interested. A bidding war may drive the price up.

Great contract for the kid. He carried is to the finals last year so he deserves every single penny.
Also he makes less than Jeff Skinner so that makes the deal look even better.

Future with Kane and Toews
Some great thoughts in what you shared, but for this season and next we will be a lottery pick and frankly that is okay based on a rebuild. So assuming we get someone like Owen Power and Brad Lambert we should be well positioned in 2022/2023.
Suter is better then a 4C, more 3C/3LW material but Evan Barrett should end up being a good 4C to take over for Kampf and if not we keep Kampf who's a solid 4C defensively speaking.
Kubalik - Dach - Kane
Debrincat - Strome -Lambert
Kurashev/Suter - Toews - Reichel/Nylander
Hagel - Barratt/Kampf - Highmore/Entwistle
Power - Mitchell
Beaudin/Carlsson/Kalynuk - Boqvist
keith - Regula
Drew Commesso
Colin Delia/Lankinen
This scenario will be with 1 year left on Toews, Keith and Kane's deals. There will be cap room so we can certainly fill one of these holes above with a proven vet as well, but more importantly, quite a bit of cap space the following year to fill in any gaps to truly compete in the playoffs in 2023/2024.
Unlike many Hawks fans, I see the pain of this year and next to reap the rewards for a rising team in the 2022/2023 season heading in a good direction. Hawks are already the 3rd youngest team in the NHL, that is a good indicator that a rebuild is well in place today.
Good post thank you

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HatterTParty</b></div><div>Not a doubt. For sure I really feel for the players who can’t play to their strengths under Colliton. Boqvist is taking such a step backwards cuz he can’t play offensively enough. As for the playing time, that part is just unacceptable, especially with kuba.</div></div>
worst part is colliton acts like he doesn't know why it's happening. He said something along the lines of thinking the stat sheet was really wierd when he saw it because he thought the ice time didn't reflect what he saw on the ice. He's said something like this when asked about ice time in all three games so far.

The thing is Kurashev has looked good when hes been on the ice, but Colliton hasnt let him and Kubalik play for more than 10 minutes a game. This is either an obvious tank job or just blatantly incompetent coaching, both of which should be fireable offenses
