Cool beans with that number. Not a troll. He severely suffers when he doesn't play with Crosby. Anyone who is a bottom-six forward can produce like he does.</div></div>
Please post proof of that Sheary suffers when not playing with Crosby.
<a href="http://nhl.nbcsports.com/2017/01/21/conor-sheary-seems-to-have-found-a-home-on-sidney-crosbys-line/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">http://nhl.nbcsports.com/2017/01/21/conor-sheary-seems-to-have-found-a-home-on-sidney-crosbys-line/</a>
"Crosby is obviously a big part of this equation, but it would also be unfair to overlook Sheary’s contributions, especially when he has been just as productive this season averaging more than three points per 60 minutes (in an admittedly smaller sample size) in his 5-on-5 minutes without Crosby centering his line. He’s not just a good player for being undersized. He’s not just a good player because he is playing alongside Sidney Crosby. He is just … good."

Still Need a RHD (trade with Carolina)
Reading your description I understand what you did, but PIT wouldn't have room for Kane, and wouldn't give up a 1st for another winger when we still need to fill center positions. It would require exchanging cap hit and Kane is know to have a problem with authority ... something the pens wouldn't likely take on since we've already got a Phil Kessel ... not to mention UFA at seasons end.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MNBassman</b></div><div>Why do all of you Penguins fans think Derrick Pouliot has any trade value??? He was a reach at the draft and is now almost a complete bust.</div></div>
Because NJ's D isn't as difficult to crack as PIT. He's 23 with as many games as Santini, one year younger. Is Santini a bust? Cause he likely doesn't make the Pens line up for another 2 years. Your GM is also the one who drafted him.
Hagelin would be top 6 in NJ, and your 2C would be a top 9 on many teams in the league. I like Henrigue a lot, but where does he rank in BUF? TOR? EDM? or any contender in the league? He's barely top 6 on most. He'd be 3rd center, potentially 5 winger for the Pens (Kessel, Hornqvist, Geuntzel, Sheary ... ) which still puts him on the 3rd line. He's falling down NJ depth chart pretty fast with the addition of some talent this off season as well.
He might be the best you got, but that doesn't mean he's going to be among the best on a good team.
I would offer Sheary and 3rd for Henrique and Santini Or Sheary and Maatta for Henrique, Santini, and Blandisi and a 4th.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Willian_Cardoso</b></div><div>I'm a Pens fan too, but why Hurricanes would trade one very promise prospect for a rental?? They are not even a contender. No way that happens.
I'm tired of trades involving Maatta. All of you fans are being unfair with him. He's just a 22 kid with a lot of upside. He's more resilient, poise and mature than the most of players on his age. I don't comment none of them anymore.</div></div>
But think of it like a GM. He's got a 4.1m contract for the next 5yrs that he hasn't grown into yet and we are winning NOW. His cap space makes us able to add more depth including to the center position. He's the most expendable defenseman we have that will fetch a decent return. Letang and Schultz are NOT going to be moved. Dumoulin isn't going anywere. Cole (our most physical Dman) is a UFA after this year and only cost $2.9m right now. So Maatta is the logical one to shop. Just like all of us shopping Sheary. He's going to make $4m + ... would you rather have the cap space for depth or the player with the cap hit?
It's not because either suck. It's because they both have value that can be traded for value and cap space.

I like what you get, but don't like giving up Jarry. He could be a 1B and at RFA money. I think he takes the back up role next year and hopefully challenges Murray for the # 1 spot for a year or 2 before we unload him, or Murray, to a team that needs a legit goalie and get far more then you're getting.
I think Maatta could get both those players alone, maybe a late pick, and don't think COL want to do the draft pics. I'm happy to see a COL trade that doesn't involve Duchene though.
I think the Vegas deal looks about even, but not sure they'll want Gustavsson as I don't know how confident they are in bringing along a goalie just yet, and they have a few to play with. I think they're more interested in high quality prospects, draft picks, and players with value at the deadline they can move for prospects and draft picks as well as having cap space to eat players cap hits for prospects and draft picks.

PIT can take that cap hit. Not for a guy we didn't think was worth it and hasn't he been playing wing in Van? VAN would need to retain $1m to $1.3m for him to even be a consideration. I don't understand how he's paid so much for his production. We'd have just thrown more money at Bonino.
Value is there to make the deal, but the salary is just to much to take on.

Bennett isn't projected to be 3rd center. He doesn't fit the role. He's more a scorer than a defender so who's your PK centers?
And no way he's worth a 1st and 3rd, and I don't think they'd accept a rental for a young (basically) prospect. He's done nothing so far that makes him that kind of value. Scott Wilson fits the role better then Bennett does, and we don't have to give up anything to get him.

I don't think his salary would work for Vegas. The have Theodore and Schmit to play offensive D ... If they keep their salaries low they can pick up salary dumps at the deadline and get a lot of resources from it. Unless they can move Barrie in a deadline deal ($5.5m over 3 more years). I don't think his upside matters that much to them. Their not going to be a destination for free agents anytime soon. They need prospects and picks.

actually they only need to give up 2 1st round picks, a second and a third. hes signed for 5 years so the compensation AAV would be 9.75 million, which is just under the 9.8+ mill needed for the compensation to be 4 1st round picks.
but he still did the compensation wrong, unless he meant to trade for his rights in which case the trade is very lopsided and edmonton would agree to it anyway.
also the trade with colorado is terrible, why would any team even give up one first round pick for mccann? let alone 2 1st rounders which will be high picks cause colorado is rebuilding.
I also think the trade with pittsburg is lopsided, but after they traded reaves for a 1st who knows what they will do. personally i dont think mackenzie is worth a first round pick.
and winnipeg trade is also bad cause who would trade 2 2nd round picks for a garbage 31 year old forward? no smart GM thats who</div></div>
PIT traded a player (Sundqvist) and a 2nd for Reaves and a 1st ... a 1st in the year they won the cup, so it's basically a 2nd. They moved back like 10 spaces in the draft. It's very different than giving up a 1st for a Reaves. No PIT wouldn't give up a first. MacKenzie wouldn't fetch a 2nd unless maybe at the deadline but we could over pay for 3C that scores more, and will be an RFA when his contract ends. No need to over pay for Mackenzie.

Yeah. His last year puts him back at prospect level value. I wouldn't offer more then a 5th and that would require $1m in retention. His value would be higher if he didn't play at all last season, or played in the minors. Not worth the risk at his salary.

I think there are much better cases for 3c. You swap rental players, and our 1st is basically a 2nd round pick, not a top 10 or 20, so it's value isn't going to get Bennett. Also bennett isn't really a 3rd line center. He played 90min short handed. That's 2 mings less than Eric Fehr played in 52 games. It's half of the average PK center. His face offs stats are also just ok at 46% ... His point production is just ok ... so he's really basically still potential.

Why are you chasing names for salary at the cost of depth, especially on D ... and why would you move a C prospect for picks when the Pens system is already weak at center? $9m for 3rd line center ... seems insane.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>clark</b></div><div>Vegas would have no interest in Hagelin. 20 players, no cap</div></div>
They have $7.8m in cap and probably another $9m with IR. They wouldn't be interested in giving up draft picks for players. They want to go the other way around as an expansion team.
Hagelin has value at the deadline (could fetch 2nd and prospect and maybe more), but they're not looking for more roster players. You'd have to take something off their books so they can absorb more cap hits for Picks and prospects at the dead line. Vegas is looking to build via the draft, not with 28yr veteran wingers.

Did you miss Conor Sheary in the trade?
Maatta is better than Santini is right now. Santini and a 2nd or 3rd rd might get Maatta ... 1 yr age difference but 4 yrs and 2 cups in experience and Shero drafted and signed Maatta to his long term deal. Not pawning anything. Maatta might be the most well rounded Dman on NJ roster. To PIT he's a cap hit that we can afford to shed because everyone in their top 4 is better than every D in NJ.
Sheary has more scoring potential then Henrique, though Henrique is the better 2 way guy for sure. They added Johansson (plays all forward positions), Boyle, as well as Hischier and Queneville in the system that could step up in addition to Zajac and Zacha. They have a lot of options at center that will likely have to play wing. Sheary is a better wing then everyone mention aside from maybe Johansson. He plays very well to with talent and smart players like Hall and Johansson, and Hischier, etc. Henrique is more than likely to play wing anyways.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dennisb</b></div><div><div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>darrakki</b></div><div>NJ isn't trading Henrique, not at least until Hischier becomes a 1st line center in the NHL. It's tough to say what Devils' coach has in his mind. But they have Zajac, Zacha, Boyle and Hischier who I've read stated to a media "I'm a center not a winger". And I remember they have Queneville and McLeod they want to play as centers... They are very good on top6, actually it will be a competion there but they are very thin on bottom6 and lack overall depth. So that's another point of interest of trading with them since we have wingers. Maybe Archibald as a cheap and NHL-ready could do.
I might be wrong but they are really short on quality D (I actually see only one nominal top4) and I don't see the way they can find one unless trading a center. Maatta is still very young and Shero knows him well and his potential, so he fits exactly the rebuilding team.
VGK have lots of assets... and have recently been sending them for picks. Karlsson is sure more expensive because of his age and contract. Would do you think it will demand to take him?</div></div>
I was thinking about trading Archibald or Pouliot but read that NJ has very little defense coming along, but all the forwards mentioned above who can move to wing. I've read Corrado is close, but he's not going to crack PITs roster this year, and not if Santini is added.

Stanley cup champs
Counter offer ... Kessel, Hagelin, Pouliot for Benn ($2m retained), Johns, 1st (2018) and a 2nd (2018).
Kessel is the best player in the trade. Benn is a down grade, but at a MUCH larger cap hit. There isn't a large difference in age or potential for much more from either player. Benn scores great numbers with others. Kessel needs no one, and often plays on the 3rd line. There's no reason for PIT to take on more cap. Kessel is worth more than they pay him since TOR retains part of his salary. To get Kessel DAL would need to even out the cap hit. The $2m I suggest doesn't even do that. It gets him to $7.5m which is still 700k higher.
Pouliot and Johns are almost equal value at this point. Pouliot is younger, Johns needs to show more discipline.
Hagelin is worth more than a 2nd (at deadline he could fetch a high value prospect and a 2nd) ... and the 1st to make up for the upgrade DAL gets in Kessel, the cap they save, and Hagelin. PIT isn't going to swallow your cap issues.

Sam isn't a 3rd center. He's most-likely going to play wing, probably in Sheary's spot, unless Sprong takes it. I think they might see Sheary as the better bet as well.
It still leaves a hole at 3C so unless you got another move I don't think it works out for PIT while BUF gets two 2x Stanley Cup champs who are very young yet and a 1st. I'd say BUF wins the deal. though they might not take it.

If you're going to pick defense-man to move it's Maatta. He's young and has value, but he also has a $4m cap hit. It makes no sense to sell any other defensemen as Hunwick makes to little and won't bring back much return, and anyone who makes more then him is a better defense-men then him at this movement in time and he's struggled with injuries. If you go back and watch just the highlights for the games from the past 2-3 season you'll see Maatta make a lot of young mistakes. He's has a hard time turning around and often gets beat one one on one ... Yes, he's very good for a player his age, but most players his age don't make $4.1m dollars.
