Best thing the Habs can do is to take whichever the big 4 remains on the board just like the Sens did back in 2020 NHL draft.

McDonagh is pretty much a cap dump at this point in his career. you will have to add pick/prospects to move.</div></div>
This is one of the reason they moving him now. If they wait 1-2 more years, he would be a cap dump.

Another Petry Rumor
They were also report of Islanders considering trading their 13th pick for Josh Anderson.
Doesn't mean it'll work but who knows we've seen what were considered "overpayment" at the time but it ended being genius transaction by the contending team. (Lehkonen, Coleman, Goodrow, Manson trades)
This is why we're arm-chair GM.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>Not when healthy</div></div>
This isn't 2016 Jonathan Drouin who was healthy and much younger.
This isn't the same as Carey Price who has proven he can still be elite when healthy and even Carey Price doesn't get much unless Habs retain a huge portion of salary (40-50%).
Only way to trade him is to let him play out until 2023 TDL and hope his value will increase just like he did when he was called up in Tampa.

What is Vasys Trade value
He's untouchable to the point even if he Bolts are stuck in the worst of the worst cap hell situation, Kucherov or even Hedman will get traded before Vasilevskyi.
He's 1 of 2 actives goalies that has shown who can carry his team in the playoffs without much support ,but with Carey Price's current state, he's pretty much the only one who can do it right now and for the foreseeable future. (maybe Shesterkin can join this list)

2nd oa for chychrun crouse
I think this trade makes the most sense out of all Chychrun and 2022 2nd pick mock trades.
Although Yotes are not getting 4 asset, this one is still a 2nd overall pick. Besides, rebuilding/mediocre teams are going to give 4 assets to Coyotes and contenders' 4 assets have a low probability of yield a high-quality pick.
Along with their own 3rd pick, they can use it to draft Cooley and Nemec (as potential replacement for Chychrun to some extent).
Meanwhile, Devils get help right away on D.

Would be incredibly disappointed if the devils did this, for both value and moral reasons.
Regardless, there's an argument that all of that combined isn't even worth the 5th overall pick, let alone adding Sharangovich.</div></div>
you're missing the other 2 pieces of the Exodia
1) Draft Mitchell Miller
2) Hire Stan Bowman as President of hockey operation

He might not be worth 10.5M just to perform in the playoffs, but 5.25M for Carey Price isn't a bad deal. Getting Holloway for 50% of Price isn't impossible. The problem would be his NMC (he doesn't want to leave. He had the opportunity to test the FA market couple years ago and sign with a team that he didn't have to carry by himself) and Montreal probably doesn't want to retain 5.25M of his salary for the next 4 years.

Top it all, they already have Seider and Hronek as the top 4 RHD. Paying 6M ish for a 3rd line RHD isn't going to happen.
EDIT: Didn't know trading Hoffman back SJ was part of this AGM so this AGM was probably done as ajoke.

The draft is Montreal so they ain't trading that pick. If it's not Wright, they could get Cooley/Nemec/Slafkovsky.
Nemec will especially be an important piece considering Weber is basically retired and Petry is probably going to be traded.

Lehkonen suitors
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gary_bettman</b></div><div>Fill me in. When did Lehkonen become a top-six scorer worth A-Level prospects and high picks?</div></div>
that's because Tampa Bay has been paying premium to get cost-controlled players (Coleman, Goodrow and Hagel) and it has paid off. Hagel is the only one who can play on top 6.
Lehkonen is no top-6 forwards but I wouldn't be surprised if he could fetch something along the line of Goodrow (1st rd pick) or even Coleman (1st rd pick and Nolan Foote)

Pat Kane to Avs
Need to include Byram in that deal to get <strong>50% retained</strong> Patrick Kane with an additional year to his contract.
Like it or not, he's still one of the best RW in the game. Kinda stupid to bring up the cab bs. Yeah it is bad but that was a decade ago and it's not as bad as Mitchell Miller bs or even Logan Mailloux bs.
You can't just give a good prospect in Barron and a late 1st round pick. You have to include a blue-chip prospect. Pulling a Rick Harrison from Pawn Stars isn't going to work.
Then again, if a Patrick Kane trade involving Byram does go through either Sakic has finally moved on from patiently waiting for his crops to grow or something is wrong for Byram to no longer be untouchable.

if its at least top 2 protected, then its possible for contenders trade that pick to avoid another disaster like the Karlsson, Duchene or even Seth Jones trades.
